I will say this, querying feels better now as a published author. I have more confidence in my letter. Not expecting to get responses right away, but I don't feel timid or intimidated this time. Bring on those rejections, Lit World! I am ready! #amquerying #kidlit #historicalfiction

So, if the Cheetoh gets his way, the acronym HOMES many of us use to remember the Great Lakes (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior) will become the acronym SHAME. Let that sink in.

Just bailed on a book, 1/2 way through, Reason? Characters lacked depth and emotion. Yes, high stakes are important, but without emotional investment, I’m out. #revisinglessons #amreading

Yes! Just got an encouraging rejection for a book I wrote over ten years ago. (Once in a while I throw it back out there- with changes of course!) Consistent comments are 'great premise and characters'. Eventually, it may find a home.

Whether or not people could garden in early 20th century coal towns - like would the constant settlement of dust coat the leaves of vegetable plants and stunt them? The answer is yes- and that adds a whole other layer of struggle to the story.
