As I understand it, by law (Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998), if the nomination of an acting AG is rejected, they may continue as acting for a maximum of 210 (more) days. Not great, but could be worse.
7. How long may someone act in a vacant position covered by the Vacancies Act?

The Vacancies Act includes several time limitations on acting service in covered positions when vacancies are not caused by sickness. If no one has been nominated to the position, an acting officer may serve in the position for no longer than 210 days beginning on the date of the vacancy. (5 U.S.C. § 3346(a)(1).) However, for any vacant positions that exist during the 60-day period beginning on a transitional Presidential inauguration day, an acting officer may serve in the position for no longer than 300 days beginning on the inauguration day or the date of the vacancy, whichever is later. (5 U.S.C. § 3349a.)

If there is a first or second nomination for the position, an acting officer (who is not the nominee or is the nominee and meets certain exceptions) may serve while the nomination is pending in the Senate. (5 U.S.C. § 3346(a)(2).) If the nomination is rejected or returned by the Senate or withdrawn by the President, an acting officer may serve for no longer than 210 days after the date of the rejection, return, or withdrawal. (5 U.S.C. § 3346(b).) These additional periods of acting service only apply to the first and second nominations. Further acting service is not permitted after 210 days following the rejection, return, or withdrawal of a second nomination, even if a third nomination is made. (5 U.S.C. § 3346.)

According to the sources, Kalshi alerted its regulator, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), to the suspicious activity on its "Mentions" market, where users can bet on whether specific words, phrases or topics are uttered during a public speech.

"Our surveillance team promptly flagged and referred these trades to the CFTC, and we are cooperating and assisting regulators," Kalshi's lead lawyer, Bobby DeNault, said in a statement provided to ABC News.According to sources familiar with the investigation, Perez sat for an interview with regulators in recent months and acknowledged some of the trades. At some point during the investigation, the sources said the CFTC alerted federal prosecutors in Manhattan, who declined to open a criminal investigation.

The child said Johnson molested him three times from April to October 2024, beginning when he was 11 years old, according to the affidavit.

The child said he confronted Johnson, who apologized and told the child not to tell anyone "since he would get in trouble," the affidavit says. Johnson mailed the child an iPhone "and told him to keep it a secret," the document alleges.

The sheriff's office said in the affidavit that Discord messages showed Johnson sneaking to the child's home to take him food and hang out with him. He also told the child that "since he was pardoned for storming the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, and he was being awarded $10,000,000 as a result of being a ‘jan 6’er’ ... that he would be putting him in his ‘will’ to take any money he had left over," according to the affidavit.

Moren's arrest is, of course, in lieu of the arrest Trump really wanted - that of Fauci, who Biden wisely pardoned - not because Fauci did anything wrong, but because Biden knew what Trump is. So this is the result of the temper tantrum Trump had because that pardon prevented him for wreaking vengeance on the man who dared to question any of his proclamations and ideas - Fauci, the man whose expertise saved millions in the US from Covid19, the man who has saved millions worldwide during a lifetime of service to medicine and science.

In my humble opinion, Anthony Fauci M.D. is one of the greatest public health physician scientists of all time. His management of the HIV epidemic was a demonstration of his ability to learn and communicate in the public sphere under immense pressure. He saved many lives from HIV domestically and internationally. During the Covid pandemic his leadership was hampered by the administration that he had to serve under (Trump 1.0). The easiest thing he could have done under the Trump administration would have been to resign under the immense pressure and fantastical proclamations of Trump and his minions. He stuck it out to the bitter end, and now he needs security coverage for death threats and harassment from Trump's followers. Without Biden's pardon, I'm sure he would be under indictment and investigation, if not languishing in jail. I hope Moren can make a strong defense against the allegations. I have my doubts about the integrity of the Trump weaponized "Justice" department. Moren's brutal arrest was an egregious miscarraige of justice.

It is to weep. SSs below, from NBC, today. Highlighted authors' response (R) shows remarkable restraint, IMHO. www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...
The research paper was originally set to appear in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s flagship publication, on March 19. It had already had undergone scientific review and the publication's editors had approved it, current and former CDC employees said.

“Scientific reports are routinely reviewed at multiple levels to ensure they meet the highest standards before publication,” said HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon. “The MMWR’s editorial assessment identified concerns regarding the methodological approach to estimating vaccine effectiveness and the manuscript was not accepted for publication.”

[O,RLY?]Nixon previously told NBC News that the report was delayed after the CDC's acting director, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, expressed concerns about the method used to calculate vaccine effectiveness. The Washington Post was first to report the report's delay and subsequent cancellation.

An HHS official said the authors of the manuscript did not want to adjust their methodology.

The arrest warrant is from 2023, on charges of fraud and money laundering (related to the Pandora affair); the request to Interpol appears to be new. IOW, it concerns other conduct, namely corruption. www.politico.com/news/2025/12...
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — Honduras Attorney General Johel Zelaya said Monday that he had ordered Honduran authorities and asked Interpol to execute a 2023 arrest order for ex-President Juan Orlando Hernández, pardoned by U.S. President Donald Trump.Zelaya included a photo of the two-year-old order signed by a Supreme Court magistrate for alleged fraud and money laundering charges. The order says that it must be executed “in the case that the accused is freed by United States authorities.”

Dozens of Honduran officials and politicians were implicated in the so-called Pandora case in which Honduran prosecutors alleged government funds were diverted through a network on nongovernmental organizations to political parties, including Hernández’s 2013 presidential campaign.

Who does he think he is, Mike Flynn? (excerpts from Dana Priest's The Disruptive Career of Michael Flynn, Trump’s National-Security Adviser, @newyorker.com , 2016: www.newyorker.com/news/news-de... )
Flynn broke rules he thought were stupid. He once told me about a period he spent assigned to a C.I.A. station in Iraq, when he would sometimes sneak out of the compound without the "insane" required approval from C.I.A. headquarters in Langley, Virginia. [highlighted sentence follows] He had technicians secretly install an Internet connection in his Pentagon office, even though it was forbidden. [end highlighted sentence] There was also the time he gave classified information to NATO allies without approval, an incident which prompted an investigation, and a warning from superiors. During his stint as Mullen's intelligence chief, Flynn would often write "This is bullshit!" in the margins of classified papers he was obliged to pass on to his boss, someone who saw those papers told me.Flynn also began to seek the Washington spotlight. But, without loyal junior officers at his side to vet his facts, he found even more trouble. His subordinates started a list of what they called "Flynn facts," things he would say that weren't true, like when he asserted that three-quarters of all new cell phones were bought by Africans or, later, that Iran had killed more Americans than Al Qaeda. In private, his staff tried to dissuade him from repeating these lines.

Flynn's temper also flared. He berated people in front of colleagues. Soon, according to former associates, a parallel power structure developed within the D.I.A. to fence him in, and to keep the nearly seventeen-thousand-person agency working. "He created massive antibodies in the building," the former colleague said.

Flynn had been on the job just eighteen months when James Clapper told him he had to go. Clapper said he could stay for another nine months, until his successor was vetted and confirmed, according to two people familiar with their conversation. Flynn was livid.

March 15, 2024 (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) - On July 1, 2023, a new Florida law (Senate Bill 264) went into effect, restricting foreign investment in Florida real estate from specific countries, and enacting a near-ban on property purchases by Chinese, Russian and other foreign nationals.

Senate Bill 264, titled “Interests of Foreign Countries,” prohibits Chinese nationals and nationals from other countries, including Russia, from buying land unless they are American citizens or permanent residents. In addition to Florida, over 20 other states currently have laws restricting foreign private investment in real estate, including primarily agricultural land.

This update builds on a May 19, 2023, Lewis Brisbois publication analyzing Florida’s new law restricting foreign citizens from buying land in in that state and a July 5, 2023, Lewis Brisbois publication discussing a lawsuit challenging the new Florida law.

Currently, states that have introduced or passed laws restricting foreign private investment in agricultural land include: [alphabetical by-state details list follows]

Top Justice Department officials also confirmed his death in a statement.

"This matter involved extremely serious charges, and it is always difficult when a case is unable to be fully and fairly heard in a public trial and weighed and determined by a jury," said Assistant U.S. Attorney General [sic] Kristen Clarke and Kate Brubacher, the U.S. Attorney for Kansas. "The proceedings in this case may be over, but its lasting impact on all the individuals and families involved remains.
