Does anyone have good resources on RAW photo editing? I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. I can't tell if I made it better or worse, or why and how I did so. #photography #macro #insects #butterfly

Sometimes I take my camera for a walk. Here are some insects from Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens last week. #photography #macrophotography #insects

A European skipper (small yellow butterfly with black eyes) on a buttonbush flower.

Two Japanese beetles doing what beetles do on small purple flowers.

A Slaty skimmer (blue dragonfly) on a leaf.

I truly wish at least one world leader would realize that the world is not a zero-sum competitive game. Please, please figure out that some things are cooperative.

I started working on this a few months ago and set it aside for a while before finishing it today. This is the first piece where I had an exact idea of what I wanted in my head and spent a lot of time planning and testing to create just what I imagined. #watercolor #charcoal #mixedmedia

$A mixed media art piece. The left two-thirds are a charcoal dystopia with uniform square buildings densely packed with dark shadows. On the right one third, there's a canopy of whimsically colored trees. A black path comes out from the top of the dystopia, and passes through an iridescent cellophane prism which difracts it into a wooden bridge through the colorful canopy. A small figure is exiting the prism from the dystopia onto the canopy bridge.$

Just in case any men are on dating apps or interacting with prospective partners, here's a PSA: This is the only acceptable dik(-dik) pic. You're welcome.

Can someone tell my dog that I would appreciate it if she would hang out on the bed so I could pet her without moving? She is too far away.

A black greyhound with a greying snoot rests her head on the edge of a fluffy bed. (It is a dog bed, not a human bed. If it were a human bed, I wouldn't have felt the need to post.)

Trying to get in the habit of doing more teeny drawings for the sake of doing more teeny drawings. They don't have to be good, or finished, or anything really. Just drawings. #pencil #sketches #quickpractice

Left: a small pencil drawing of a laptop, a cup of coffee, and a plate of fried egg in a slice of bread on a desk.
Middle: a section of chunky knitted blanket next to some bed sheet with a case of pencils.
Right: some dark blackout curtains shut over a window.

Dignified. Graceful. Refined.

A black grayhound with a silvery face, long snoot and floppy ears looks up at you from her repose, her right eye squinting. She cannot tell if she is awake or asleep. And she does not know why you have stopped scratching.

Welcome to Night Vale @nightvaleradio.bsky.social · 15/04/2025

Disparition shares his thoughts on what Night Vale means to him. Read it here: buff.ly/uCZjxGE

Disparition is standing on stage in front of what looks like the top of a gothic clock tower. The area behind the tower is in dark in shades of blue and black. Disparition is wearing a black spring zip up jacket with dark pants. His hair is brushed straight back, the sides shaved, full goatee.

@drsketchybaltimore.bsky.social is truly my favorite event in the entire DMV. I usually don't post my drawings because I'm completely lacking in talent or skills, but I don't want the host to be sad. Any lack of resemblance to The Juggling Kat is my own fault.

A pencil sketch of a woman with long hair wearing a round top hat (maybe a bowler), a burlesque costume, and high heels sits with her left leg crossed over her right, with another hat on her knee, and one on her left toe.

A pencil sketch of a woman wearing a burlesque costume. She holds a ball in her left hand, sitting facing her left, with her left leg over her right. There is a rose balanced on her head.

Ok. Buckle in. This is a pencil sketch with a pool in front with corner steps. Behind the pool to the left is a burlesque performer with her back facing you. Her left leg is stretched back, her right leg is straight under her. She's got a cane on her right hand, a bowler cap in her left, and is looking coyly over her right shoulder. On her left is a poorly drawn butler with a monocle and a tray of martinis. Behind them is a lightly drawn in double door, and the world's laziest drawing of a column.

A pencil drawing of a burlesque performer with long hair in a short costume covered in loopy strings, facing forward. She's got a ball between her feet, and two feather fans spreading out behind her back. Poorly drawn grass covers the ground.

Sometimes I make the sketch that lives under a future painting and I think, "Well, I'm either going to love this painting or really really hate it." This is one of those sketches. #weevil #beetles #sketch

A faint pencil sketch of a beetle with big eyes and a very long narrow proboscis. The sketch is taped down to a table in preparation for painting.

This week's watercolor insect was an oak treehopper. I definitely learned a lot working on this one. And I think he's cute. #watercolor #art #insects

In math class I always had to read the questions and talk through my approach out loud to myself. My teacher made me sit in the hall for exams because I "gave away the answers". Now I wouldn't call this a problem. I'd say "I've always been an excellent team player". (I still do this when I work.)

I have two art projects I'm working on right now that I'm obscenely excited about. One is a series of watercolor postcards of different orders of insects (like this long-legged fly). The other is a secret that I drew some ideas for yesterday and feel compelled to paint. #watercolor #insects #art

A postcard-sized watercolor painting of an iridescent long legged fly on a mostly green background.

You know your dog is a long dog when, during designated morning cuddle and scritches time, you get licks from the head end and thwacks from the tail end at the same time. Yes, there is designated cuddle and scritches time--everyone should start their day with this much oxytocin.

An expectant black greyhound with a graying frosty face lies down on her haunches on a multicolored rug. Her head is pointed demurely away at an angle from the camera, but her eyes are pointed towards the photographer. Her two long front legs are in front of her.

Hello world. Here is a silly photo of Joy dog. There is cheese in my hand. Can you tell?

A black greyhound with a graying snout and soulful brown eyes states longingly to where her person, off screen, is holding cheese. You can't see the cheese in the photo, but I promise it's there.
