The supposed message that gets them banned is always old (one was literally 2.5 years old), the reason/post is never shown or explained. It's clearly some guy just searching messages and finding anything remotely out of context for some overly-aggressive AI moderator to carry out a ban

comparing the human and dracthyr visage hair fidelity is like... night and day in texture quality/diversity and how the hair ends are. I'd love for some kind of rework to hair, maybe not the ultra HD shaders like in korean MMOs but idk something just a touch better and more universal between races

almost yeah, it's basically 1 model where the equivalent of a geoset splits up the top dome part, the front fringe, and the rest of the back/side parts. it also has shape keys that squish the hair down to fit under tight-fitting helms if needed. but yeah the hair itself is a separate model

yeah it'd be a huge undertaking. FFXIV basically splits the hair into a few chunks, the top of the head can be toggled off, and they have shape keys to also shrink down the hair underneath. But yeah all the helms are also built around being like categories of head coverage

they're unfortunately (currently) basically just 1 toggle for geos, sometimes 2 if it includes a headband or something but atm hair is just the 1 geo per hairstyle largely. it's why i think splitting it up into parts in a future customization rework could make it work better tbh

There are some shaders from spell effects that allow for clipping out some of the body (i think a few hearthstones do this, like the oribos one?) seems like a potential performance nightmare tho, and i think it may have some limitations atm like breaking with animations

somewhat related, somebody pointed out this issue where the dwarf helmets have a different shape between classic and forever (left vs. right). from what i can tell, the left is the model used in retail currently? There's definitely something interesting going on here though

The method of making a new helm model shape for every hairstyle would be pretty insane and if it's automated would likely lead to egregious errors. There's certain steps that could be taken for sure but it seems inelegant and inefficient, not to mention stacking burdens when adding new hairstyles.

If character models were to get a customization rework, hair could potentially be split into multiple parts, allowing certain pieces to be toggled that would collide with the helm (top of helm) or shrink down the hair vertices with animations/bones. This likely would involve machine learning

Personally, i think for now a simple "toggle hair" checkbox in transmog suffices for short term and we kind of just have to deal with it for the time being. It's not a permanent solution but it may be something we're stuck with for a few years.

unfortunately this is just one of many issues. Blizz being too lenient on streamers for years is just one part of this. Stalkers and harassers use their very open armory against players, and there's barely been work done to wall up gaping holes in this. The game is actively unsafe.

i will say alternatively, if they lift the ignore cap (very easy to do too) i will reconsider leaving. basically by giving us better moderation tools to help with our own experience (and putting the responsibility more on us to curate for ourselves) it'd help things a lot more
