Good morning from Paris. Happy Victory Monday to all who celebrate. #BillsMafia
Have you across Paris from the 15th arrondissement looking east. The sky is cloudy pinky gray, the sun is just risen just to the right of the Pantheon, The Tour Montparnasse is on the right side of the image.

I would like to take a moment give thanks to wonderful neuroscientist @drdeanburbett.bsky.social for his excellent and often hilarious books on all thing brain-related. Sitting here in a café in Paris and just made everyone’s head truns and I laughed out loud so hard. Thanks, Dean! 🤣

So I did these quickly choosing the darkest portion of the tests you did there as representative of what it'd look like with two coats. I'd go with sage green myself.

This sky is this weird freaky, yellow orange color in Buffalo right now. Canadian wildfires, is that right?
The sky is a dirty, pale orange color, a yellow – orange sun visible through the clouds, there are dark trees in silhouette in the foreground

Having spent my time during the punishing heatwaves in Paris dreaming of cool Irish summers, and then finally escaping the 34ºC heat of Paris for the immense relief of 24ºC my beloved North County Dublin coast, I would have to say YES!
View looking north cross the rocks of the north end of Donabate Beach across a small bay to Portrane. The late morning sun is shining and the sky is blue criss-crossed with high hazy clouds.

I did a little change to the pedalboard this morning, putting the Ditto Looper back on. Such a great practice and composition tool, should never have taken it off! Took some work to squish the other pedals together to make room but it was fun. See ALT text for description. #guitar #guitarsky

Lots of people in my feed tonight saying “Kamala should’ve done X” or “Kamala didn’t do Y” but listen, the same thing happened that happened in every US election since the 1960s: a majority of white Americans voted for the more racist candidate. White Americans saw this and liked it. 👇🏻

That’s awesome! For me the honeymoon with the EC-1 was short, in that I quickly stopped fussing with it and just got on with playing. It really sounds great.
This is a photo of DrKev’s pedalboard. There’s a power supply and eight pedals, including a tuner, a Univibe, three different overdrives, a delay, reverb, and tremolo.

Am I to believe the Biden DOJ and Dems hold more responsibility for Trump in power than the people who saw the signs at the RNC, heard what was in Project 2025, heard the naked racism and fascism spouted during the rally at Madison Square garden, and decided that they would vote for it?

I found an app called Horika which is a Holga-style toy cam app. You have to choose your film, you get a 12 shot roll before you can change again, you have to advance the film before taking a new shot or enjoy the double exposure. It forces you to think about your shot. It’s nice!

New pedal day! I sold my El Capistan for the EC-1. It sounds wonderful, does what I want, possibly better than the El Capistan without the extra stuff the El Cap does that I never use. Happy boy!

Just to make the point, how guitarists judge with eyes more than ears, my current favorite pedal is the Soldano SLO pedal. Yes, it sounds amazing, but just look at it! It's bright fuschia purple anodized brushed aluminum and the retro/modern mix of Eurostile and Futura fonts just fuckin' melts me. 😍

Inside the United States ONLY and see the priviso below. Outside the US, Osteopaths are as quacky as chiropractors.
One notable difference between DO and MD training is that DOs spend an additional 300-500 hours to study pseudoscientific hands-on manipulation of the human musculoskeletal system (osteopathic manipulative technique) alongside conventional evidence-based medicine and surgery like their MD peers. 8119/101 However, most DOs do not practice this manipulation.

The neck has too much relief, truss rod missing it’s nut I think too, but more importantly the headstock itself is bent upwards from string tension resulting in the back angle from a string to the but being too shallow (D & G have a string tree). Also wood worm! Lots of wood worm holes!

Who knows anything about vintage Höfner bass guitars? As far as I can tell, this is a model 182 from 1961 or 1962. It’s still covered in leatherette. Electronics work (mostly). Neck may not be salvageable but we’ll see.

Well, yes, but also no. The words calm, peaceable, moderate, remind of the passage below from Doctor King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail”. To wish merely for times past when white citizens could comfortably ignore racism is not good enough. Racism is after all our problem to stamp out.
Excerpt from Martin Luther King jr’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail”

First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of jus-tice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who pater-nalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

My approach to getting synthetic "realistic" sounding drums is the VST plugin in my DAW triggered by a Midi Controller with pads that I can finger drum with. Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve in the initial setup but after that it's plug and play. See alt text on the photo for details...
Macbook Pro running Reaper as my DAW, SSD5 drums plugin is running. The midi controller keyboard has colored pads assigned to different drum elements in the plugin. Purple = kick drum, light blues are snares, dark blue are toms, yellow = hi-hats, orange are cymbals.

Hey #birdsky, any help identifying a hawk? This was taken last summer in western New York near Buffalo. I know Cooper’s hawk and sharp-shinned hawk are difficult to tell apart, but does that look like big head (Cooper’s) or a ‘normal sized head (sharp-shinned)?

On just got this comments in my YouTube channel. 🥲
“Hi Kev, I hope you are feeling better these days. When I first discovered your videos I remember you said "go hug your Mom, she misses you " or something of that nature. You said that right at the end of your videos. That struck a chord at the time because i was dealing with the loss of my Mom who got sick and passed away rather quickly after that. I've been playing guitar for a number of years but your videos always strike a chord with me. I put a like and comment on em all just to help things along. I just thought you should know that your videos make me happy.”

From Orwell, 1984...
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

Huge thunderstorm in Paris tonight, we had 65 km/h wind gusts sustained winds of over 35 km/h. The rain was so heavy visibility was down to maybe 50 yards. Other than the giant hailstones we saw a few weeks back, this was the most Violent storm I’ve seen on 25 years living here.
