Presently @durhamcricket.bsky.social are playing Northamptonshire at the County Ground in Northampton. Second in a semi-regular series of #groundhistories where I use #nlsmaps to look at the historical geography of a sports ground to see what we can learn about context.

I don't think Mark's point is necessarily as ridiculous as some people are suggesting. If he lives in the Durham village of New Brancepeth, for instance, it would take him 40 minutes and two buses to get to the 'big Sainsbury's' in Durham, and a Durham Arriva day rover will remain at £6.

A £2 bus fare is a great headline, but of course most people who rely on buses will need to make more than a single journey per day and won't necessarily be helped by this, especially if they need to change routes on their journey. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This is quite something - the #AoM - an American institution in management studies which attracts 10,000 people annually and traditionally cycles around places like Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and Seattle is moving its next few meetings after 2027 out of the US.
