You can search Ancient Greek words in Kevilex without the accents or breathing marks now, or in Latin characters.

The Kevilex reader has a Chapters panel now. Open it partway through a collection like LGPSI and you get the whole chapter list with your place marked, buttons for the previous and next chapter, and a link back to the collection page. Enjoy!

The Collections tab in Kevilex has a Beginner First sort now, so the easiest Ancient Greek and Old English collections now come up at the top. There's also a Difficulty filter if you only want one level.

Old English texts in Kevilex have a macrons toggle now. Added this recently on popular request. Enjoy!

I read Ancient Greek at a smaller text size than Old English, and until this week changing it in one language changed it in the other. Kevilex now keeps the reader display settings apart. Each language now remembers its own text size, typeface, and line spacing.

Browsing the Kevilex library now splits three ways: For beginners, By genre, and By author. The beginners tab, for example, gathers every Ancient Greek collection rated beginner or elementary, with the graded readers first.

Old English runs "ne" together with a form of "wesan", so "is not" comes out as "nis". Kevilex used to treat that as one word it had never seen. It now shows it as "ne" plus the matching form of the verb.

Herodotus is full of Ionic spellings, and Kevilex used to fail on most of them. Now the Ancient Greek lookup engine on Kevilex finds more Ionic forms, like τολμέουσι finds τολμάω ("to dare"), for example.

Kevilex schedules your flashcards, so a text you just started has cards that aren't due yet. But you can now run a Practice session on them anyway and go through that text's Ancient Greek or Old English words early, before you read the next chapter!

I've been adding support for more Doric forms in Kevilex recently, thanks to lots of feedback from users! These recent fixes include improvements in recognizing crasis spellings like ὥλαφος:

I've been working hard on Ancient Greek dictionary lookups to make them easier to read. One example of a recent change: Liddell-Scott-Jones entries in Kevilex used to show sometimes with Latin-only notes still sitting in them. They break into separate senses now, and drop the Latin asides.

One Ancient Greek or Old English form can belong to more than one dictionary word. Kevilex flashcards and reader lookups now put a chip for identified possible entry on the card, and the definition matches the form analysis.

Vesuvius buried Herculaneum in AD 79 and carbonized a library of scrolls. We can read one of them now: PHerc. 1667, a Stoic treatise on ethics, read from inside the still-sealed roll. It's on Kevilex in the Ancient Greek, every word clickable: www.kevilex.com/collections/...

The Alexiad preface on Kevilex had some letters in it mangled. βιάζοιτο, ἀναγκαιοτάτους and λόγου all came through broken from the transcription. They are fixed now, and the same kind of mistakes are repaired through the later chapters, too.

In Kevilex, Ancient Greek word form analysis now names a word form's dialect when the engine detects that the form is not Attic. So you should now see Epic, Ionic, Doric, Aeolic, or Koine on words that are especially associated with one of those dialects. Enjoy!

Kevin Albrecht 🏺📚 @kevinalbrecht.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
In Ancient Greek poetry, a word often drops its last vowel before a word starting with a vowel, so a word like σπαράσσω ("to tear") shows up as ἐσπάρασσ’ and λέγω ("to say") as ἔλεγ’. I made some fixes now so that Kevilex gets these forms correct more often than before. Enjoy!

In Kevilex, you can now toggle line numbers on and off in Ancient Greek and Old English texts to make it easier to talk about which line you are on. This was a frequent request from a reader. Enjoy!

New feature in Kevilex: you can now control the distance between lines in the reader when reading Ancient Greek or Old English texts. Just click the style button and adjust the line spacing there. Thanks to the reader who suggested this feature!

Added a new feature to Kevilex, based on user feedback. Each collection now shows the number of unique word forms present, as well as the number of unique dictionary entries. This works now for both Ancient Greek and Old English.

I've added a new graded reader to Kevilex. Charles Moss's A First Greek Reader from 1886. It is 163 stories that start as short anecdotes and gradually work up to passages adapted from Herodotus and other ancient writers. Enjoy! www.kevilex.com/collections/...

I've made some big improvements to the "Library" section of Kevilex. When you're reading Ancient Greek, you can now visit one of four reading rooms, which focus on one kind of Greek: 1. Beginner Greek 2. Biblical Greek 3. Attic Greek 4. Homeric Greek Stay tuned for more improvements to come!

When studying Ancient Greek or Old English flashcards in Kevilex, you'll see an "in context" sentence from among the places you've seen the word during your reading. I personally really like this feature when I'm studying!

A lot of people have written to me recently about how they discovered Kevilex after finishing an Ancient Greek class and trying to figure out how to continue their work and continue their studies. I'm interested to hear from students and teachers how Kevilex could better support you!

I've done a lot of work recently to improve how the import text feature works inside Kevilex, both for Old English and Ancient Greek. If there's a text you wish was inside Kevilex that's not, I hope you try out the new import feature! www.kevilex.com/texts/import

I launched a much nicer What's New page on Kevilex this week, where you can now see the new features separately from all the new fixes. I've been fixing so many things that sometimes the number of fixes hid some of the great things happening in the app! kevilex.com/changelog

What I love about using Kevilex for my own learning of Ancient Greek: Starting to read a text I've never read before feels like a much smaller hurdle when I know that Kevilex is going to be able to help me along the way, looking up the words I don't know, and showing me the words I do know.

I'm really liking the new flashcards-by-text feature on Kevilex, where you can choose the ancient Greek or Old English text you've been reading recently and review the flashcards just for that single text.

I recently added the ability to move to the first and last page with one click in the text reader on Kevilex. Now, when reading Ancient Greek or Old English text, you just press the double arrow to the right or left to get to the first or last page of that text. It's a small change, but useful!

I've recently released a new flashcards improvement to the Kevilex app: Now, when you want to study flashcards for the words you're learning in Ancient Greek or Old English on Kevilex, you can choose to study only the flashcards from a particular text. Lot's of requests for this one. Enjoy!

Added the palatalization dots to about 800 more Old English headwords in Kevilex. Gebeorgan ("to save, protect") now reads ġebeorġan, and undergietan ("to understand, perceive") reads underġietan. The dot marks a "g" you say more like modern English "y".

When you look up an Old English compound word like ealddagum ("in old days"), the word popup now breaks it into its parts. Old English, like Germanic languages, including modern Swedish, loves to stack words together. This should make it a bit easier to read Old English now.
