Very 'warm'

I'm afraid that future has been cancelled. You may need to board the parallel future arriving on platform 3, in 20 minutes. Better get your skates on.

I think Julian and Sandy would agree that is very bold.

Post and packing is another £3.99 so still around $41, but I don't use Amazon; probably a bit stupid but there you go.

I'd buy the Tubers LP but something like that costs the equivalent of around 45 of your US dollars now. Even the CD would be around $25. I'm getting priced out of new music.

I don't t know this bunch at all, but I've just listened to it and it is a total delight. I shall have to get to know them better.

It did go something like that, along the lines of, "Listen. It's so quiet". The main reason for buying any CD back then was for extra tracks which weren't on the record- two home demos on the XTC. I never thought I'd ever own a CD player, but I knew someone who could tape my CD for me to listen to.

kestrelblazer @kestrelblazer.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
I also bought CDs before I had anything to play them on. One of them was a 3" disc of XTC 'King For a Day' in a die-cut sleeve. A friend of mine was an early adopter and was insistent I listened to 'Telegraph Road' by Dire Straits because it was so free of the extraneous sounds of his LP.

Thank God. I was beginning to worry about that cat- long time no see.

Looking forward to it's arrival although stupidly I have just left the country and am currently in Australia. In my defence it's not my idea to be here-promises were made that weren't kept.

That's probably the answer. We need to get some hep cats on the case.

In my experience it's usually the other way around. I can certainly send an LP to the US much cheaper than I could have one sent to me. Post everywhere is quite pricey now, but the US most definitely does not want to trade with other people- well only in one direction.

Need some more CDs of this, and UK distribution.

Yes it is. We like our pair of Dunnocks. We don't get anything like the variety of birds you get- no finches at all. Mostly Great, Blue, and Long-Tailed Tits, Collared Doves, Wood Pigeons, Blackbirds (but not so plentiful of late) and the occasional Wren. Robins too, of course.

Dunnocks certainly have had a bumper year. We always have two around but I looked out this evening and said to Claire, with a note of excitement in my voice, "there are six Dunnocks out there".

Bought this book from Tom last year and I can confirm, as some others have said, that the room I was in also became very dusty as I neared the end- dust affecting my eyes and so on. Best read in a vacuum.

New CD from Dan Haywood. I don't often bandy the word Genius about except, maybe, when I'm talking about Vic Godard. I'm going to bandy it about in the case of Dan Haywood, though. danhaywood.bandcamp.com/album/ten-si...

Obviously a corker, but I'd like to see less remastering and HDing of stuff- including us human beings.

Agreed. Cut off point will be when I get my state pension. I just put on a pair of Black Brogues (Loakes) and walked down our hall. Only 30 ft but it felt good (wooden floor). Then I strode into town to meet Claire, like a beast. Return journey not so Lee as I was pushing a wheelchair.

If I'm in a long corridor I always walk down it like Lee Marvin if possible. I still wear actual shoes so that helps.

Enjoyed the Lone Capture Library record from last year. I don't think he gets it right every time- well not for me anyway- but it's very good when he does. I also respect his right to get it wrong for me but right for others.

No, modern life is great* because you can buy it on a CD for less than half the price of the double LP and only £1 more than a D/L and listen to it without having to get out of your chair every 15 minutes. *point taken, though because everything else is rubbish.

RIP Steve Barrow. 🙏 Prior to the magnificent Blood and Fire label, Steve worked for Trojan. In the late 80s he dug deep into their archive and compiled dozens of LPs that contained many rare reggae and rocksteady gems. Here's just 9 of those incredible LPs... #reggae #reggaesky #vinyl #musicsky
Clockwise from top left:

1 - Put On Your Best Dress - Sonia Pottinger's Rocksteady 1967-1968
2 - Ba Ba Boom - Duke Reid - Classic Rock Steady & Reggae 1967 - 1972
3 - Clancy Eccles And Friends - Fatty Fatty 1967 - 1970
4 - Niney And Friends - Blood And Fire 1971-1972
5 - Bring The Couchie 1974-1976 - Niney The Observer And Friends
6 - Studio Kinda Cloudy - Keith Hudson And Friends
7- Junior Byles - When Will Better Come? 1972 - 1976
8 - Joe Gibbs And Friends – The Reggae Train 1968 - 1971
9 - Bunny Lee - Jumping With Mr. Lee 1967-68

I came by him via Series Two Records, in the old days, when people were still putting out CDRs, and you could afford to buy from the U.S. There was a lot of good, weedy-pop on Series Two. Gotta say I miss those days; there was a charming naivety about life which has long gone.

I'm in the kitchen with a 2 day old doughnut and some Ethiopian coffee. It's 80 degrees here. This beautiful Ryoko Akama CD is just the thing- long, lingering notes, and silence, and not quite silence. some of my favourite performers on here, specifically Cyril Bondi, and Stefan Thut.
A kitchen table with a doughnut, a cup of coffee, a small watering can, a couple of houseplants, a copy of The London Review of Books, and a CD by Ryoko Akama 'Places and Pages'

Kali Malone 'Studies for Organ (Rehearsal Demo Tape). A nice bit of droney organ. Five years old now. Hanne Lappard 'PigeonPostParis'. Her voice acts on me a bit like Kali's droney organ and there is music chiming in the background. A favourite tape of mine by a fascinating artist. #cassunday
Cassette cover for Kali Malone's 'Studies for Organ (Rehearsal Demo Tape)- number 123/250 since you ask. Cover shows a photographic portrait of Kali in black and white.Cassette cover for Hanne Lippard's 'PigeonPostParis'. The title is printed on the white cassette box, several times, in white print which is overlaid with the title, once, in grey print.

Xanthoceras sorbifolium looking good just now. I recommend this for a trouble free spring flowering large shrub. The leaves are equally delightful having a narrow fern-like appearance. This is in the driest most sandy soiled part of our garden but is completely reliable.

New DJ Mitmitta Ethiopian tape on Ultraaani. His first tape is a long time favourite and came in an Ethiopian fabric pouch. The new tape features a bunch of keyboard instrumentals often simply a band jamming to fill up the end of a tape where they'd just backed a singer. #cassunday
2 DJ Mitmitta cassettes on Ultraaani records of Finland. One is is called '80s 90s minimalistic Ethio' and is in a plastic case. The cover features a stylized Lions head with a full mane. The other 'Ethio Rock 'N' Roll' has a screen printed box in pale green with a pouch made from Ethiopian cloth printed with a blue, gold, and turquoise design.
