Every two years,
the spiders of Eastnor Deer Park

For five days they watch four thousand nerds build a village out of kindness, blinking lights, amazing ideas, capacitors, and, once, an orphaned radioactive source.

Then?

The humans vanish.

In the sudden quiet, the spiders sit,
nestled in the dry, forgotten grass,
digesting everything they have learned.

By next EMF they will be wiser, and also

Today would have been my nephew Sebastian's ninth birthday. We lost him to cancer in 2024 aged just six. He taught me so much in his short life - mainly to be brave no matter what life throws at you, and to sing no matter whether there's a stage to stand on. Love you, Seb. 🧡

I'm 22 pages into the deep lore of the Reality Quake universe, and at this point I might have to solve quantum physics and answer some fundamental questions about the nature of the universe before I can do any more work on books 2 and 3 in the series. Sorry.

Public toilet cubicles are often festooned with the poetry of the proletariat, but this is the first time in my life I’ve walked into one and the pen was provided.

They don’t make baddies in games like they used to. Incidentally, replaying Phantasy Star III and I think I just remembered what gave me my gay awakening.

Realised today that, tonally, the 'done cooking' tone on my air fryer is the same as the line "Meet George Jetson" from The Jetsons theme tune. Perhaps that's why cooking with it always feels so futuristic, in spite of the fact that the tech inside is actually decades old.
