Shark finning is a cruel practice that causes immense suffering and a slow, lingering death - all for a bowl of soup 🍲 🎨 Just Comics #SharkAwarenessDay 🦈

A four-panel comic highlighting the brutality of shark finning and human indifference:

Panel 1: A shark with its fins cut off, bleeding, and a knife nearby. Caption: "They hacked off my fins alive. It didn't kill me, it just crippled me."
Panel 2: The shark sinking into the ocean, finless and bleeding. Caption: "They dumped me into the sea... to await a slow and painful death."
Panel 3: The shark lies on the ocean floor, suffering. Caption: "I thought it was because of human vanity."
Panel 4: Two people in a restaurant, one looking at a menu, the other upset. Caption: "There's fin..." "Don't make a scene!" Lower caption: "But it's just the menu."

An alert to all creatives using #WeTransfer. Basically, stop immediately! As of August, they will begin scraping everything you send for AI purposes (see the new paragraph in their Terms and Conditions below). If, like me, you’re a voice artist, they’ll clone your voice. Avoid at all costs.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

check your values! illustrations should be legible and readable and should work composition-wise in both black-and-white and colour 🙏 i always use a fully black layer over the illustration set to colour layer mode to do this

Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of Jaws 🩸🦈I made a list to score, with 13 levels of stereotypes about sharks, I hope it is useful for those who want to create works beyond the fear ingrained by Jaws and seek new creative representations of sharks. #shark #jaws #jaws50thanniversary #jaws50

After noticing patterns over the years, I created this list with 13 points to score the level of stereotypes about sharks present in a work. I believe that most of these stereotypes have their main origin in the film Jaws (1975).

With the scarcity of works that explore other creative approaches to sharks, beyond the “man-eating ” narrative, Jaws ended up consolidating itself as the greatest source of inspiration and creative reference for many productions to this day. This was called “The Jaws Effect”.

I've noticed that certain patterns in the creative world repeat themselves to the point of being tedious, which bothers me. Not because they're bad, but because in many cases they're harmful. With these points, I hope to show sharks in a new light.

We do not support gen AI in the book, art and music communities. Ever. It has no place amongst human expression. It’s soulless, it’s theft and it’s damaging the planet. If you use it knowing that, you have betrayed your fellow humans, and I want nothing to do with you.

So that now makes Lena McDonald, KC Crowne and Rania Faris leaving ChatGPT prompts in their ‘books’. I’m so fucking tired, guys. If you don’t write, you’re not a writer. It’s that simple. Stop doing this to your readers, who PAY. Readers and authors deserve better than this. 📚💙

You know what? I’m totally not surprised when an author who has used AI generated slop in their marketing/cover, forgets to delete the chatgbt response in her manuscript.

I am however surprised that Rania is blaming it on her “beta reader”.

What a fucking shame.

I discovered a post on Threads of someone claiming K. C. Crowne uses AI and shared this screenshot (the pic is not mine, it was posted by OP)
