Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Just finished a commission of animating a Richie Rich cover. It was a favorite comic of the person requesting it. I was happy to do it! Currently, I figured people would merely use AI for such things. Thanks so much, JS! 0185
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 22/09/2026When I think of Kirby's work, I think of BIG and BOLD. I was surprised how delicate his pencils were. Inking was really fun. He was so inventive in his characters' faces. It makes me want to push my own art more. 010
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 21/09/2026When I come across an unused penciled page by an old master, in this case Jack Kirby, I love trying my hand at inking it. But, then it feels incomplete without dialog and color, so I do that too. Btw, does Hulk have extra tough hair, like Superman? Has it ever been addressed? 910924
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 31/08/2026On this commission, I was asked to replace the scary alien on UFO Flying Saucers #5 with QUISP! I don’t know anyone, of a certain age, who doesn’t like Quisp. His breakfast cereal was discontinued many years ago, but he will occasionally show up in select areas as a limited release. 0231
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Here’s a pretty straightforward commission The request was for me to create a Ghost Rider cover showing his disapproval of “Billionaire’s Row” in NYC. 13810
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I find causal nudity, for comedic effect, hilarious! Social media doesn’t agree. For this finished commission, I added pink briefs. The joke is Star-Spangled Kid wore blue with a star pattern BEFORE Wonder Woman appeared in comics. Her culottes were also blue with a star pattern. 1313
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 10/08/2026Oops. Can't edit my post. Meant to type Marvel "Tails." 030
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 10/08/2026"Goose Rider" commission! The request was to recreate Ghost Rider #6, art by John Romita, in the style of Steve Mellor. Mellow drew the first Goose Rider in Marvel Tales #1. 54612
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 03/08/2026Here's a fun commission. I was asked to recreate the insult drawing of the Thing as its own, physical art! The panel originally appeared in Fantastic Four #15, 1963. 04011
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 27/07/2026I currently have a piece of original art, and print, up for sale on ebay. I'm looking forward to the new Spider-Man movie! But, I'm fairly sure this scene isn't in it. ebay.io/m/WMCv0d 04410
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 06/07/2026Last week, I shared the cover I drew for Dr. Eldritch #1, an upcoming indy comic. The creator then commissioned me to color a back cover, using an earlier commission I drew last year. Done and done! (Do people still say that?) 0160
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 29/06/2026Here's the promotional poster for FREESTATE COMICON in Lawrence, KS on Sept. 12. I based it on 1950's Blue Bolt #105 cover, by the great L.B. Cole. The old man I added is John Brown, a Kansas abolitionist from the 1800's. He's the official "mascot" of the con. 1100
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 29/06/2026I just finished the cover for "Doctor Eldritch" #1, for an indy publisher. I don't know a lot about the comic. I just went with what the image the writer described. The book isn't out yet, but I was told I'm free to share it. Btw, I didn't do the logo, but I think it's great! 091

Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 22/06/2026It's "Supergirl Week" over at the 13th Dimension. I decided to draw a new strip. Even though the ending is probably obvious, it was still fun to draw! 13thdimension.com/its-supergir... 17210
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 15/06/2026MAD #600 comes out this Wednesday, June 17! The 13thDimension.com shared the full page 1 of my puzzle pages on their site. Hopefully this will whet your appetite to see page 2. Seek it out, if you dare! 0132
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 18/05/2026I recently bought an all-red Spider-Man/Superman “blank cover” comic. It was all-red. Later I thought, “Spider-Man has a red spider-signal. That’s perfect! It will be available for purchase at Lilac City Comicon, June 6 & 7. Hope to see you there! 06711
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 11/05/2026In the comics community, All Stars Comics #3 is a fairly famous image. Lots of parodies/tributes have been created over the years. With this latest commission, it was my turn! The request was to change certain characters and add specific dialog. Done and done! 2397
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 10/05/2026My latest commission was to draw Spider-Man and Alfred E. Neuman on a blank comic cover. The patron asked for a "worry" theme. Clever. Btw, I accidentally got a small ink smudge on the back cover! I wasn't sure what to do, so I signed it. 1191
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 04/05/2026I love how random my commission requests can be. Here's the cover to MIGHTY SAMSON #1, from 1965, redraw in a Simpsons style! 2399
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 20/04/2026If I remember correctly, "The Prisoner" TV show ran in the late 60's. A couple of years later, "Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp" ran two seasons. Here they BOTH are mashed into one image. I get asked to do the craziest commissions (which I love)! He wanted it in B&W only. 0202
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 25/03/2026Latest commission. I don’t think anyone has ever seen these characters together! Top to bottom, are Fat Man, Red Tornado, Bizarro Dr. Fate, Forbush Man, and Johnny Appleseed. 0314
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 09/03/2026I've been a fan of the Inferior Five since I was a kid. Sadly, they've had very few appearances since the 60's. I recently had the itch to draw them, so I scratched it! I put them in an "Avengers Circle"! 2368
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 02/03/2026Wonder Girl vs Mary Marvel, a commission I just finished. I'm not sure who would win! 2504
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 23/02/2026This latest commission was a request for Green Arrow and Black Canary. I decided to draw a classic battle pose. Mostly. I can’t stop myself from doing such things. 2275
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Newest commission. The request was for drawing Superman and Lois Lane together. The situation was left up to me. 😁 39621
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 11/02/2026I'm excited to announce Asterisk Watches is producing a wristwatch based on my popular "Happiness is Fleeting" art! Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 09/02/2026Latest commission-- A take-off of the classic Batman vs. The Incredible Hulk treasury. Who wins? 1254
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 31/01/2026I didn't spend much time on this, quickly pulling various things from the internet. But, I had to better envision the hat I dreamt about last night! (It had a generic alien, but I thought Marvin would look good.) 051
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 19/01/2026With so many classic characters falling into public domain lately, I'm surprised I haven't seen any used in advertising! I'll start to ball rolling-- 1175
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 13/01/2026The very first Batman comic I owned was The Brave and the Bold #68. Batman turns into “Bat-Hulk.” He’s suddenly bulky and has molten-hot hands! I’ve long held a fondness for him and had the urge to do a drawing. You can read a little more about it here- 13thdimension.com/bat-hulk-the... 0171
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 12/01/2026I'm part of a Kickstarter campaign called ORPHAN WORKS. As the site says, “Cartoonists so often have unpublished stories sitting in their files. Now, at last, you'll get to see them too!” To give you a taste, here’s the first page of a story I contributed. kck.st/3LGXdwv Please check it out! 1209
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 12/01/2026Sorry, I do not. But, if I remember correctly, I got it off ebay fairly cheap. As a supplement to a newspaper, I think there's lots of other "local" editions. 010
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 22/12/2025I received a commission request to combine several, let’s say…big-boned heroes into a group called “The Rotunda.” The person requesting wanted them rushing out a door. He included, “I was thinking it might be insensitive, but since I am on the rotund side myself, it’s probably ok.” Fair enough! 4625
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 15/12/2025I recently finished this recreation of Adventure Comics #60, featuring a bit of an alteration. It was commissioned as a gift and includes an inside joke of "3-H". I'd tell you what the joke means, but I'm not in on it either! 2212
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 10/12/2025I wonder if DC has never asked me to draw a comic because I do things like this for MAD. From "Things Superheroes Hate About Their Jobs" in MAD #47. On sale NOW! 2324
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 22/11/2025Here's a sneak peek at the poster I illustrated for the Golden State Pinball Festival, coming in May of 2026. If you're a pinball fan, you may recognize a couple of the classic machines that inspired the art. The festival looks like a fun time! goldenstatepinball.org 1241
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 21/11/2025This commission was a gift to an indy comic creator from a friend. "A variant cover for the relaunch of The CAUSE #1 — part of a nostalgic indie series." Here's a link to the book. My alternate cover won't be available until a undetermined later date-- kbtoysverse.com/pages/cause 060
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 17/11/2025Here's a wacky commission I recently finished-- A mash-up between Batman and Watchmen. Oh, with Dennis the menace thrown in for good measure! See comments for original cover. 37311
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 11/11/2025Latest cover commission. If you recognize the characters, you're deep into comic book lore! The insides are by the talented team of John Holland, writer, Larry Guidry, artist, and Damian Felitte, colorist. I'll repost when it goes live on Kickstarter sometime next year--! 041
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 06/11/2025Newest commission. The character in the peacoat is the patron's own creation. He's traveling in a twisted version of Oz! (The character, not the patron. As far as I know--) 0130
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 03/11/2025Oops. Just noticed I typed "Wonder Wonder" instead of " Wonder Woman." 🙃 040
Kerry Callen @kerrycallen.bsky.social · 03/11/2025Just a simple overlay I created in Photoshop many years ago. 110
