6h/day would be great because it lines up so much better with the school day. More families would be able to avoid paying for before and after school care and could be there for their kids’ after school activities. Plus parents would have more energy and time to enjoy their lives.

It seems fitting that we can use SHAME (instead of HOMES) to remember the Great Lakes now

The nice thing will be instead of using HOMES to remember them we can simply use SHAME

I took up the guitar at 45, and I love it so much! I’m constantly trying to get friends (mostly in their 50s) to join a band with me, and they always say they never learned how to play anything. My response is always yeah pick an instrument and get started. You’re not dead yet!

I came here to say this. My parents were liberal but I grew up around enough of that BS in small town PA that I am very familiar with it. No thank you!

No one is thinking like the rich. You find 500 people who are willing to give you $1 mil for a chance to get $2 mil if you win the flip. You get the EV of $500 mil and offload all of the risk onto the rubes. Bonus if you somehow get a fee kickback.

I can see how some people might find this helpful. Psychologically it could help someone not feel guilty about asking for a night off, for instance. I think it just depends on your personal mindset!

And just to clarify, this was a Tesla Model Y and I hated a lot of other things about that car. But as far as range it would absolutely tell me I could make a trip to my mom’s 136 miles away and then I would need to stop about halfway there. Once it took 80 mins on the supercharger.

kerrilovesmath @kerrilovesmath.bsky.social · 21/06/2026
We had an EV that supposedly had a 300 mile range. The real range was around 150 miles and depended on the temp and terrain. I came very close to being stuck on PA turnpike through the mountains. It added about 30-45 minutes of charging for every 2 hours driving. That’s about 25% longer on the road.

At first I wanted to disagree with you because I was really into most of these and I am a young Gen X but then I remembered that some of my friends like 5 years older than me have never even heard of any of these bands and it always blows my mind

They demand that we keep taking all of Trump’s proposals as if they are made in good faith (Ex: he says private money will pay for the ballroom why would you be against that?!) when anyone actually paying attention would realize he lies about everything. And the media falls for it every time.

I taught math in a public school district during the grit phase of education and it was definitely annoying. This particular trend boiled down to “have you teachers ever considered encouraging your students not to give up?” 🤯

Attended the #NoKings rally in Chambersburg, PA while visiting my mom. They estimated 800 out in the square! It was Gordie’s first protest but it won’t be his last! @maddow.bsky.social

Both-sides journalism is a major culprit. To use your example, it’s like if I told my students “Your book says that sine is opposite over hypotenuse. But some teachers claim that it is adjacent over hypotenuse” and never said another word about it.

Not a health claim, but it makes things delicious! And when you watch someone who really knows how to cook they almost always use it more liberally than I would. Ex: Salt Fat Acid Heat with Samin Nosrat. I eat at least twice the RDA and feel light headed when I try to watch it.

Fat-shaming says more about the user than the target. Dems who use it lose my respect, because they probably hold similar beliefs (all your own fault, suffering okay) about poor people and other marginalized communities, even if just implicitly. There are valid reasons to make fun of these monsters!

Our daughter lives in Minneapolis and we fall more in love with the city each time we visit. Favorites so far: Hen House for breakfast, Bryant Lake Bowl and Theater, and Mill District Farmers Market. Our only complaint is we can’t find a good pizza place - you need more Italians!

Yes! And these companies are straight up causing our asthma, cancers, etc and then the MAHA bros turn around and vilify anyone with a chronic condition as a leech on the healthcare system.

I thought it was a good movie but wouldn’t say I enjoyed it. The only seats available were super close to the screen and my husband and I both felt very sick by the end of the movie. Most of it was close-ups and shaky cameras and it made us motion sick.

Btw daughter’s cost for health care in the UK (you pay up front when you apply for the visa) will be about $2700 for 2 entire years. That’s about 1/5 what she would cost on our US plan.

Wow looking at all these replies we were fortunate! Husband and I are both self-employed no ACÁ subsidy. Our plan for us plus one daughter went up 20% to $1908. Lucky for us daughter is taking a job in the UK so we may come out about even when we drop her. @deluzio.house.gov

Gordie back from his spa day and extra floofy! For some reason, his new Halloween bandana is giving me French fashionista. #DogsofBS
A cute brown labradoodle just back from the groomer is extra floofy. He wears a Halloween bandana that kind of looks like a fancy Hermes scarf, and he’s standing in a living room with bulky stick nearby.
