I'm going to be in a Curse of Strahd Draw Steel game in a a few weeks and I have no idea what kind of character to make. How do you even make a character for a pre written campaign? I've only ever played homebrew games

I like that Draw Steel doesn't confine itself to hard design rules (see Summoner) but it sure makes building tools for it a pain in the ass.

An NPC, who's a jerk, tells the players to meet him at the belltower in three days at noon. Repeats it 3 times. Gets one of them to repeat it back. They all forget it completely.

Now that my players are really understanding Draw Steel combat I find it generally takes a little longer to run combat but they're all actively engaged the whole time instead of checked out until it's their turn.

After a bunch of iteration I've released my squad markers www.printables.com/model/177700.... I found organizing groups in Draw Steel to be more complicated than I liked so I solved the problem with these.

I run a dnd game for my son and other kids at a local game store. One of them started at the table a couple months ago, was generally very shy, and barely spoke at all. Now they're speaking in-character with a terrible British accent. I've played for 30 years and this is my favorite ttrpg moment.

For the dnd game I DM, I 3d printed a 4 digit cryptex for them to test their guesses to an in-game locked door. My son solved the physical combination and skipped the whole room.

I think "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" exemplifies American culture more than any other art piece. Most cultures' folklore involves cautionary tales warning people not to tempt the devil. The American version has the challenger win because he is way cooler than the devil. Yea, that sums it up.
