I absolutely love this from Peter Fonagy in his foreword to the English prevalence review. Stop judging kids today by your memories, and recognise that, if you don’t like how they’re reacting to today’s world, we’re the ones that shaped it for them.
I want to be careful not to turn my own history into a lesson for other people's children. Life has become harder since I was a young man: more uncertain, more relentlessly observed and appraised, with less belonging and fewer opportunities to take time-out, to recuperate and recover. The cacophony of voices now available to a young person - most of them digital, many of them confident, few of them accountable - has made the ordinary developmental process of understanding oneself far harder than it was for me, and the consequences for how young people function are correspondingly greater. As a clinician who still sees young people, and as a proud father of two children, I am in awe of their courage. Young people today are contending with more powerful forces than I ever faced. They are not fragile.
They are outnumbered.

Was watching the NFL on US tv and this ad came on. It was super weird, besides being massively and obviously corrupt.
My tv with said ad on it. Trump looking weird and a disclaimer saying “paid for by the US Government”.

Maybe also sack Todd F. Lang, a credulous muppet, while you’re at it, appeals court.
The sentencing judge, Todd F. Lang of Maricopa County Superior Court, praised the video, saying, "I loved that A.I." He called it "genuine" and noted that the victim was allowed to "speak from his heart."
He then imposed the maximum sentence, which was more than the nine years that prosecutors had sought.

Oh look, @glasgowcc.bsky.social once again treating their staff disgracefully, posting this statement on their Facebook page at 10pm at night. GMB and Unite need to leave the Council in no doubt that they will stand in solidarity with Unison members.

Council Pay & Grading scheme UPDATE:
Talks between Glasgow City Council and UNISON have once again broken down.
Following a pause in the council sending dismiss and reengage letters to staff the council was able to secure funding for an additional year of pay protection.
Despite this, UNISON still refuse to put the offer to their members in a ballot.
Glasgow City Council Leader Councillor Ricky Bell said:
"I'm deeply disappointed that, despite the Council putting a further year of pay protection on the table, UNISON has once again chosen not to put this offer to its members. Taken together with the improvements made since August, this represents a package well over a hundred million in extra pay for our staff.
"We listened carefully throughout these negotiations and went the extra mile to address concerns and improve the offer. However, some of the remaining demands were simply unworkable. In particular, proposals for additional allowances would in fact have had a detrimental impact on some emplovees."We had paused the issue of letters to our staff to allow space for further discussion. Although UNISON's actions bring that pause to an end, we are working with UNITE and GMB to ensure that their members are not dismissed and reengaged. We will have detailed discussions with these unions from Thursday morning to finalise these details.
"I am disappointed that UNISON members have been denied the opportunity to have their say on a deal which would have delivered significant improvements for many employees, additional protections for those facing detriment, and a clear route to finally ending pay discrimination in Glasgow.
"This is an understandably difficult and uncertain time for staff, and support will continue to be available through the Council for those directly affected by this decision."

1. So what? 2. Not how the Beeb has reported it 3. Evidently 4. This feels like projection
Beeb sport home page including story headlined “Israel player sent off for celebration mimicking gun”Beeb story snippet:
Israel's Sayed Abu Farhi was sent off for a goal celebration where he appeared to use the corner flag to mimic shooting a gun in his side's Nations League defeat by Austria.
The 20-year-old Colorado Rapids player equalised before doing the celebration which earned him a second yellow card.
Football's laws say a player can be booked for a goal celebration that acts in a provocative, derisory or inflammatory way.
It came in a week where Israel's actions in Gaza have made football headlines, with a campaign for the Republic of Ireland to boycott their two upcoming matches.
The home and away games against the Irish are due to go ahead in neutral venues.
More than 73,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks, according to the territory's Hamas-run health ministry, whose figures are considered reliable by the United Nations (UN).
The war was triggered by the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed […]

Every heartwarming human interest story in america is like "he raised $20,000 to keep 200 orphans from being crushed in the orphan-crushing machine" and then never asks why an orphan-crushing machine exists or why you'd need to pay to prevent it from being used.
