Under the Building Canada Act, approvals -- or denials -- are issued at the same time. They are not guaranteed; the projects must meet the same regulatory burden as any other project but all federal agencies do their evaluations simultaneously.

An interesting story that is rarely talked about is how the TMX expansion through Jasper in 2007-8 was pretty much on budget and didn't see much in the way of protests. I'm not sure that will hold for the 3rd go around.

He genuinely thinks that "trade" means a swap. The US sends goods to some country and that country sends goods back. Nobody buys anything, it's just a straight "trade". If the values don't match, someone's getting ripped off. Incredible, but that's truly how he thinks. Perfect saphead.

He thinks that "trade" means a swap. So if the US sends $100B worth of goods to Canada while Canada only sends $50B back, then the US has lost $50B on the deal. He doesn't seem to be able to understand that all these goods are purchased with money. Hard to believe, but that's what he thinks.

Solar and storage is the best choice for lower latitudes where the storage required is on the order of days but most of Canada requires storage on the order of months, and that is not economically feasible yet (but it will be in time).

Carney can't put export tariffs on oil until October without causing internal harm due to the separation referendum in Alberta. So the biggest card can't be played really fast, but there are other options in the meantime.
