Today my family visited the Crabbe Mountain ski resort for the Fall Festival of Colours. You walk down one of the ski runs, enjoying the colours of the leaves, then ride a chairlift back up. In the lodge are various local vendors selling crafts. #fredericton #yfc

The grass is green but the leaves on the trees on either side have started to change to the yellow, orange, and red of fall. The forest of trees extends across the valley in the distance. The sky has some thin, high clouds although some blue sky is visible between the clouds.

I’m seeing a lot of posts about China and people realizing that maybe we were being fed propaganda. I don’t have an option, but I was in China a few weeks ago and have Chinese colleagues. (I’m American.)

Let’s play would you rather:

Would you rather live in a place where the media is heavily regulated, people are heavily monitored, but the crime is extremely low, the cities are clean, the technology is advanced, and the people are generally healthy and live deep into old age?

Or

Would you rather live in a country with access to several types of media, people can say and do almost whatever they want, industry is not heavily regulated, but healthcare costs can bankrupt people, kids have active shooter drills, drug deaths are high, homelessness is in every city, not all citizens can afford to buy a home or rent an apartment or buy groceries?
