This base post says contest, but it's important to remember that these events are also a way to network and connect with your audience. Treat people who engage with your pitches with kindness and interest, and engage with other people's pitches genuinely as well!

040

Kengo Nelson @kengonelson.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

Consider how books are marketed and sold when pitching. What in your story would catch a reader's eye? What about it is most likely to make an agent go, "I would request pages of this"? Those things should be in your pitch. Also, follow up with agents who engage with your pitches.

I was so deep in the closet at the time that it hadn't yet even occurred to me that being gay was an option, haha. But here I am now, decades later still writing stories. (And still good friends with said girlfriend.)

Kengo Nelson @kengonelson.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

Hi, I'm Kengo! I primarily write gay romance in real-world or fantasy settings. Character-driven ideas inspire me most, but a good plot hook is hard to ignore. I started writing as a teen when my then-girlfriend said she wrote stories. I wanted to impress her by saying I did too. #BluePitHype
