At 4pm today, the temperature in Lincoln hit 99°F, just 3 deg shy of the record high for the date of 102°F set in 2012. As has been the case all week, hottest readings today were along the Neb-Kansas border. Temperatures today in the 100s were common Kansas down thru Texas.

At 5pm, temperatures across Nebraska were in the 90s with 103°F along the Kansas border. It was in the 100s from Kansas down thru Texas. Lincoln's high, as forecast, was 99°F. Remaining hot thru the weekend. Cooler temperatures not expected until late next week.

Yesterday's high, 95°F, was the first high in the 90s since Aug. 12 & only the 6th 90+ high this month (normal is 11 days). Lincoln's extended outlook daily highs in the 90s thru Sept. 6 & warmer than normal thru at least Sept.13. Not record heat, which is in the low 100s, but still uncomfortable.

Lincoln has been losing daylight since June 21, slowly at first, now more rapidly. Since June 21 we've lost 1 hour, 31 min. of daylight. We are currently losing 2.5 min. of daylight daily in Lincoln & will lose almost 3 min of daylight daily a month from now. We're rapidly headed back toward Winter.
