I would go one step further: a candidate for President has to meet the same standards of moral and ethical behavior as a career member of their executive departments. If they could not be hired for a job within their administration normally, they cannot hold the office overseeing them.

Similar idea as mine, but have the justices assigned based on lottery, so that no one knows who will be hearing what until closer to hearing dates. That way, justice can be blind to favor and less likely to fall to bribes with tighter timelines; can't have another Thomas courted by billionaires.

Best idea I can come up with is to have the number of seats doubled plus one, and have a lottery system for which justices sit for what hearings, and the Chief acts as a stand in for even-numbered hearings if a conflict of interest occurs. Stops justice bribing if you don't know who will hear you.
