I was travelling in B.C. interior several years ago, hungry, I stopped at a busy restaurant in a small town. The staff were all young people with down syndrome. From wait staff to kitchen. The food was great, the service was great and they all looked proud and enthusiastic. We need more of this.

Life became so much easier once mortgage was paid. I started putting half the amount of my mortgage payment in my savings account and decided to try and keep no less than a set amount in savings. 5 years later, it has worked. I have an emergency cushion for first time in my life.

I like it, she looks like she js full of pics and vinegar, as my father would say. I love it when a cat's "true" name becomes apparent. All my cat's were named after they settled in, and their personalities began to emerge.

I've always used map quest. It just seems more user-friendly to me. Lays out not only the map but the accompanying data in a way I find useful.

Grew up in poverty. Bologna was very cheap, could be bought in big roll. We sliced our own, fried it, roasted it, chopped it into chunks to go into pasta. I haven't touched since. But frequently, there would have been no "meat" without it.

Don't say "he had a hard time staying awake" sounds like he was awake. Say the truth, he couldn't stay awake, he nodded off, he fell asleep, he was not consciousness!!!!

Of course, he is asking them to cheat! He needs there to be voting fraud he can prove in order to discredit the elections, and it doesn't matter who as long as there is fraud to point at. He can then cancel the results, refuse to seat those elected, declare martial law, and more.

Thank you I am sure my questions seem quite naive and uninformed. I was trying to understand the argument.

I grew up knowing there were many poorly educated people in US but always thought it was mostly a lack of interest in the world around them and an arrogance or sense of superiority from over inflated belief they were better than everyone else so didn't need to know more than they already did.

As a curious person not a PHD in anything. I want to ask what your definition of thought is? I use language in thinking because my thoughts are running narratives. But I understand that is not true for all people. And if you watch a non verbal baby work out a puzzle, are they not thinking.?

I find myself humbled by the extraordinary blessings in my life. At the age of 75, I live in a modest little house, with nature all around and just enough income to have a bit extra to share. A bonus spent an hour in hot tub with grandaughter talking about life then nightcap on the deck by fire.

He not only made a mess of the exterior of the white house, but the oval office looks very untidy and cluttered.

"Eleven Blue Men" required reading when I went into nursing. A book of short stories told like detective stories about tracing contagious diseases down to their causes and case zero. It was fascinating and frightening. The Blue Men was the story of first outbreak of Legionaires.

I had a Russian Blue, the best cat ever. Loyal, playful, funny. He would go for walks with us, good cuddle. I still miss him.

But it needs to be more affordable right now it is very expensive. There needs to be faster trains, more shorter routes, and a focus on everyday travel, not just "luxury" travel.

At what cost? There always is one. Do they know if seeding clouds so it rains in one place means it now won't rain in another that also desperately needs rain?

He can call it what he likes, but the rest of us and the world should, and I will, go on calling it Lake Ontario. It can be lake whatever below that border line, but above that line, it's Lake Ontario.

Dad would leave the hall light on and the bedroom door open a crack. The light from that crack fell across my bed and I would secretly read by that light, no batteries needed. Never occurred to me it was deliberate.

They have never protected Canada, they were protecting themselves by using Canada as a shield between any enemy that might come over the Arctic and their own country. And who talks about "breaking" a country to make them do what you want except an enemy?

Hey, if it makes a difference to getting a better deal, US booze can return to the shelves. I still won't buy it, no matter if there is something that was a favorite. I try to NEVER buy American period. And I don't see that changing in the near future trump or not.

The medical community will ignore it as best they can, but when parents show up demanding separate vaccines because they believe his lies, the decision is to partly vaccinate or not at all. You do what you can not always what you should.

He doesn’t understand that it isn't simple to "split" vaccine components. The person giving the shot doesn't mix them. They are manufactured that way. Pharma doesn't currently make a single mumps shot or rubella sot. Unless that has changed in the last few years.

I once stopped by a vessel from my home port, engine trouble, and he "demanded" a tow back to our home port. Me, in a 35 ft cabin Cruiser, he in a 30 ft catamaran sailboat (no wind), I offered tow to nearest port as I was heading away. Nope, he refused help, said he'd wait for better offer.

Sunrise over Saanich inlet this morning. The tablet camera doesn’t do it justice. The sun was blood red affected by the smoke from Spokane Washington fires. My heart goes out to the hundreds who have lost their homes.

Understood, but there is nothing normal out of trump admin. Biden tried to protect him from those who hated him for putting the truth to their lies. The pardon was a poor tool but the only one available.

Rans Paul wants him to make an error, any error. Will then charge him with lying to congress. So best defense, say nothing. I understand your 5th Amendment was created for just such moments. To protect an innocent person (not a guilty one) from exactly this type of prejudicial prosecution.

Well, 50% of nothing = nothing. Thing is, there is no profit until all the costs (to Canadian tax payers, investors etc) are paid back. That will be complete long after he is gone.

There is no herd protection for those unable to vaccinate if vax rates low agreed, but for those vaccinated with Pfizer or Maderno as long as they continue to get vax regularly, up to 95% will be protected and the remainder will have reduced risk of severe illness.

Wandering Bard @keltharper.bsky.social · 27/07/2026
I hear you, cost and availability huge factors. My government covers the vaccine for most people & although availability has been reduced (thanks to US), can still get it. But Pfizer & Maderno do protect up to 95% of people against covid and lowers risk of severe disease for most of remainder.

Is no one immunizing? I have gotten every shot when recommended (Canadian system) and have never caught Covid. I do mask upon occasion in crowded confined spaces but continue to socialize. Just got back from 3 day music fest with lots of hugging, kissing old friends and singing.

I don't understand the tolerance for the confederate flag and all it stands for in your country. You have kept a serpent of civil war at your bosom. The confederacy never surrendered. It has waged its war in politics & courts and is about to bite you.
