We had a gorgeous 8-page Birds of Prey short in Batman #152. With art by @mattiadeiulis.bsky.social. And...if you haven't seen Big Barda drawn by Mattia yet...let me radicalize you. ;D

Crop of a panel from a comic book -- Batman #152 -- a realistic comic book painting of Big Barda in her red "bikini armor" as she wrings out water from her hair a bright blue sky behind her. She is glorious. By Mattia De Iulis.

The Circe & Diana mother-daughter relationship was not only one of the most important pillars of Absolute Wonder Woman, but also the most important to me personally. My mother is adopted and I wanted to show how powerful and beautiful that can be. Happy Mother's Day to all loving mothers everywhere.

Comic book spread -- progressive panels of a child (Diana/Wonder Woman) slowly growing up in a cave setting (The Underworld), raised by Circe. The setting slowly warming up and progressively becoming a home. Pages from Absolute Wonder Woman #1. Art by Hayden Sherman, colors by Jordie Bellaire, words by Kelly Thompson, lettering by Becca Carey.

Comic book page depicting a mother (Circe) climbing into bed with her daughter (Diana/Wonder Woman) and her monster friends after a bad dream. She talks of love being transformative and also a prison. She talks of sacrifice. From Absolute Wonder Woman #4. Also, in case anyone thinks we're planning to take our foot of the gas...this is @cleanlined.bsky.social & Jordie Bellaire's spectacular cover for ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #22 (July). I have really liked all our main covers, but this is one of my favorites of the run so far:

Comic book cover by Hayden Sherman and colors by Jordie Bellaire depicting a giant Scylla creature from mythology bathed in blues in the background, as a fully armored Wonder Woman attacks with the Athena blade, as Circe conjures magic. The scene is bathed in blues and greens.

Flashback to that time I almost killed* the Easter Bunny's l'il chickie friend. *I am obviously carefully holding it with love, don't be weird.

A little blonde child carefully holds a baby chick at some kind of zoo/petting zoo situation. Behind her another child of similar age, wearing a striped tank top carefully takes another chick (presumably, not visible) from a person's hand. The joy is immense and palpable.

I did not know Jacopo Camagni well, we only worked on one 3-issue story together for Captain Marvel but he was an incredible talent. Our silly CM arc is but a tiny footnote in his fantastic, interesting career, cut far too short. I'm honored to have gotten the chance to work with him. RIP Jacopo. ♥️

Comic book drawing by Jacopo Camagni of Dr. Strange and Captain Marvel (wearing a magic-themed version of Captain Marvel costume) walking down the street talking. It is colored in a classic superhero style.

Crop of a Captain Marvel panel by Jacopo Camagni -- Carol in the center of the frame lighting up/exploding like a supernova. All colored in shades of yellow/orange/gold.

Two panels of Captain Marvel by Jacopo Camagni. In panel 1 she reaches out for a small glowing orb. Her face is thoughtful and apprehensive. The second panel is her gloved hand holding the glowing ball.

Three panels of The Enchantress (from Captain Marvel) drawn by Jacopo Camagni -- the first panel depicts her listening to the viewer/reader. The second panel depicts her laughing loudly at the viewer/reader. The Third panel shows her trying to regain her composure in front of the viewer/reader.

One of my favorite small moments in today's Absolute Wonder Woman #12 is @cleanlined.bsky.social's take on the Men-Fish's reaction to having water in the maze. These are just some of the delightful bonuses you get from working with a storyteller of Hayden's caliber. Pure delight.

It's not QUITE a new season of It's Jeff -- it's an all-new "JEFF WEEK" -- where we run strips every day for a week -- it's coming in September and @gurihiru.bsky.social did the first two of the five. Here's another peek:

RIP Peter David. I'm probably not a comic book writer today without reading Peter David's X-Factor #87 when I was younger. It opened my eyes to superheroes in ways I hadn't really considered until that moment. Though I didn't know him, he left such a mark on my life and I'll always be grateful.

It warms the cockles of my cold dead heart to see how much you guys are loving ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #7 by me & @mattiadeiulis.bsky.social 🖤 As I put these image behind a paywall earlier, they've not leaked as quickly... but here are some visual hints for next month's #8 w @cleanlined.bsky.social:

A black and white drawing of Absolute Wonder Woman, as she brushes something off her shoulder and comes directly at the viewer -- eyes intense and beautiful.

A black and white illustration of an unrevealed Absolute Wonder Woman character in a heavy duty protective suit -- they open their arms wide and break the inverted triangle panel border. They hold a test tube in one hand and there's an empty speech balloon.

I see some people thinking because of the epic events of today's Absolute Wonder Woman #4 that The Tetracide is defeated. It is not. And there is one final piece to come in this first arc. Strap in because... the finale might be my favorite bit of the whole first arc?
