Behold, the laburnum arch. At 55 metres long and more than 140 years old, the arch at Bodnant Garden is a spectacle to behold. If you want to see it for yourself, please pre-book to ensure you're able to visit.

Cascades of golden flowers pour down from an archway across a footpath littered with pink petals from the shrubs and trees either side of the path

A close-up of golden cascading flowers hanging from thin green stems

Pale yellow flowers hang in an arch across a wide footpath with dark green shrubs and plants visible on either side of the arch

A slightly barer golden arch, not yet in full bloom, hanging over a sunlit pathway. The edges of the path are littered in pink petals from surrounding shrubbery as the golden flowers above cast shadows over the path

Prepare for your mind to be blown. The oak trees that make up the Undercroft were felled in 1358. Their size and scale would suggest that they were at least 200 - 250 years old. Which means they were saplings only 50 years after the Norman Conquest in 1066. Mind. Blown. 🤯

We are looking at the Great Hall roof, all oak posts and frame soaring majestically upwards.

Borage (Borago officinalis) is known as the starflower, herb of gladness, and bee bread, as bees adore it. Some say the name borage comes from “barrach”, a Celtic word meaning “man of courage”, and so in the Language of Flowers it symbolises strength of heart. #FolkloreSunday
