The Sask Party voted down Bill 606, giving transparency to the people of rural Saskatchewan on when their hospital is open or closed. This bill would save lives. We keep asking when the Sask Party will listen, after 18 years it’s clear they won’t. We deserve better.

Today I spoke to Bill 606 brought forward by my colleague MLA Clarke that would force the government to notify when hospital service disruptions. I’m happy that the Sask Party supported our common sense legislation after denying that the lack of posting was dangerous. Proud of this team!

I had the chance to rebuttal the Sask Party’s plan to broaden the healthcare rural recruitment incentive to 9 more communities. Communities already helped by the incentive are still experiencing disruptions and still short hospital staff. The plan isn’t working. We need change.

With a new letter from 200 healthcare workers at St. Paul’s it’s a good reminder that this is not new. Here I was a couple of months ago warning the government that the problem in our ER’s could get worse and that an Urgent Care Centre can’t solve hospital staffing issues. We need big bold change.

This government’s lack of inspection to personal care homes and long term care facilities has resulted in multiple deaths. We need accountability to make sure this never happens again and that starts with yearly inspections and better education for staff and owners of these care facilities.

Cameco has been supplying Ukraine’s nuclear power plants with uranium and helping keep the lights on this winter in Ukraine. Russian has destroyed all conventional power plants in Ukraine (a war crime). This is a great example of good corporate citizenship on the part of Cameco.
