YES, and... Is there any evidence an LLM has ever accelerated learning? I thought the data was pointing in the opposite direction.

Sadly, this doesn't surprise me

I feel like the hire and disregard has been a consistent pattern with all UX disciplines for years. The thing that's killing me right now is the stupid arms race mentality, all velocity and nothing else.

Glad they have a visionary leader who is blazing a new trail and not just saying the same thing as every other CEO that is currently burning their company to the ground 🙄🫠

I always start with "AI isn't the threat, AI companies are the threat" and then it inevitably spirals into an unhinged political rant 😂

My take is that it impacts the make-up of state legislatures that then impact voter access. You can't look at the presidential election in a vacuum. I didn't even call out the systemic racism in the financial and penal systems that further limit people's ability to vote.

Only true if you assume fair and equal voting rights and full participation, absent of gerrymandering, voter suppression, party politics, and constant manipulation of the media by the wealth class.

I have similar patterns, I used the office more when I had it in a room with a window that had a nice garden view. Now the incentive is a combined office/gym so I can use creative block time to do some exercise 3 steps away.

And put a QR code on the cover that links to the site to purchase. I bought the paperback of "Ruined by Design" just so I could keep it on the corner of my desk at Amazon for everyone to see.

Same, but I don't think I made it to the 20m mark. Scrolling through the channels guide would be more interesting and emotionally satisfying.

You could try, but you read them a few lines of poetry with a philosophical question or two and all guardrails disappear apparently.

They make such a big deal about illegal immigration, but humans are the only things on the planet that give these arbitrary imaginary lines the slightest regard. System thinking and media literacy need to be required courses in middle school.

This is just phase one. Phase two is showing you what you just bought at a competitor for 20% less. Likely to include a promo taking 15% off your first order if you can show the receipt, and free shipping if you sign up as a member. But of course, both stores are owned by the same parent corp.

I haven't done a deep dive on the subject, but the theory of greater access to more effective contraception and information driving more intentional family planning coupled with career opportunities and economic pressures leading to decisions to start families later seems more plausible.

Every suburb survives on subsidies. It is a lifestyle that would be impossible if not for the tax revenue generated by the urban areas suburbanites hate & want to "escape."

I'm convinced it comes down to social groups... gain power and you're rejected by your current peer group. Don't become evil? Rejected by your new peer group.

They were never the law and order party. They've always supported class division allowing the wealthy to be above the law while enforcing punitive measures against the poor and minority groups. The only thing that's changed is now they say the quiet parts out loud.

I think that's exactly the point, maybe dynasty was the wrong term. I do see it like a separate nation that works outside the bounds of the various nation states where different companies are incorporated (to varying degrees). You see it in the culture of the expat communities in the industry.

Oil is a dynasty, people have been raised in it, it's like its own nation. Tech is new and young and lacks confidence or established infrastructure.

My theory is "nostalgiac conservatism" is a mask. Fear is an incredibly strong motivator, especially fear of loss, but nobody wants to admit that. Loss of power from changing the status quo. It's the desire to burn down the ladder they climbed as a means of security.
