In case there was any doubt left about Jay Clayton's song-and-dance on the 2020 election, he used the same weaselly answer in his written responses - p. 84 www.intelligence.senate.gov/wp-content/u...
QUESTION 187: Who won the 2020 U.S. presidential election?

Answer: Joseph Biden was certified as President by the electors presenting before Congress in January 2021.

Trump is trying to kill FISA 702. If he was serious about extending government surveillance he would talk to @wyden.senate.gov and other reformers about how to protect Americans' rights, wouldn't tie it to poison pill voter suppression bills or appoint henchmen to the AG and DNI offices.

@realDonaldTrump

The Dumocrats want FISA because that’s what they used to go after me for three years during my First Term! I’m against FISA if it doesn’t come with The Save America Act (Full version!) firmly attached to it. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

THE SAVE AMERICA ACT!

1. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PHOTO I.D. (IDENTIFICATION!).

2. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP.

3. NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS (EXCEPT FOR ILLNESS, DISABILITY, MILITARY, OR TRAVEL!).

4. NO MEN IN WOMEN’S SPORTS.

5. NO TRANSGENDER MUTILIZATION SURGERY FOR OUR CHILDREN.

Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

when BILL KRISTOL says to oppose FISA 702 renewal, perhaps democrats should listen. www.thebulwark.com/p/bill-pulte...
excerpt from a Bulwark article by Bill Kristol: This means, for example, that one arrangement for handling intercepts involving American citizens under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that might be reasonable for a normal administration may well not be suitable for this one, and should be opposed given that Pulte would be in charge. Along these lines, Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner has reportedly warned Majority Leader John Thune that an extension of Section 702 might fail unless Pulte is removed.

Here is the assessment @wyden.senate.gov mentioned just now - last year the IC predicted every single thing that has happened so far, including impacts on the strait of Hormuz that have spiked gas prices
Iran’s conventional and unconventional capabilities will pose a threat to U.S. forces and partners in the region for
the foreseeable future, despite the degradation to its proxies and air defenses during the Gaza conflict. Iran’s large
conventional forces are capable of inflicting substantial damage to an attacker, executing regional strikes,
and disrupting shipping, particularly energy supplies, through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s unconventional
warfare operations and militant partners and proxies, such as Hizballah, have traditionally enabled Tehran
to pursue its interests throughout the region and maintain strategic depth with a modicum of deniability.
However, Iranian officials are grappling with how to slow and eventually reverse their and their proxies’
recent military losses from the Israeli campaign against Iran and its regional allies, including strikes on
Iranian military targets such as air defense systems in April and October 2024. The IC assesses Iran’s
prospects for reconstituting force losses and posing a credible deterrent, particularly to Israeli actions, are
dim in the near-term.

while the trump administration takes away investigators and people responsible for locking up child predators, there's a bill to demand resources go directly to stopping kids from being victimized and arresting and prosecuting people who harm kids dcjournal.com/we-have-the-...
Landmark legislation such as the Invest in Child Safety Act, awaiting reintroduction in Congress, would expand federal and state investigative capacity, strengthen the Internet Crimes Against Children task forces, provide desperately needed digital-forensics resources, and improve coordination across agencies. That is how we must respond to organized exploitation. You can measure success in arrests and convictions, not headlines.

"Legislation to reopen the government would allow [8 Republican senators] to sue for $500,000 each - www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/u...
Each violation would be worth at least $500,000 in any legal claim, according to the bill language. The bill would also sharply limit the way the government could resist such a claim, taking away any government claims of qualified or sovereign immunity to fight a lawsuit over the issue.

The Republican senators whose phone records were subpoenaed as part of the investigation were: Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming. Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon, accused Republicans of hiding a provision in the funding bill that would give millions of taxpayer dollars “to a handful of Republican senators who helped Trump try to overthrow the government on Jan. 6, 2020.”

Mr. Wyden said in a statement that every American “should have the right to be told if the government spies on them,” but added that this bill “takes a reasonable protection against government surveillance and wraps it in an unacceptable giveaway of your tax dollars to Republican senators.”

trump: make America Saudi Arabia
NBC News has requested comment from the White House about concerns over the Trump family’s relations with Riyadh.

But “there has never been a sharp distinction in Saudi Arabia between family business and the state’s business,” said F. Gregory Gause III, a visiting scholar at the Middle East Institute. “In the Trump era, that element is entering American politics.”

AT&T hack was even worse than previously known, according to 404. Now it's on the Trump FCC to shore up our country's woeful phone network security
“It is clearer than ever that AT&T's lax cybersecurity and Trump's ineffective, corrupt FCC pose a serious threat to U.S. national security,” Senator Ron Wyden told 404 Media in a statement. “Instead of throwing the book at AT&T for failing to secure Americans' sensitive data, FCC Chairman Carr is coddling Trump's corporate donors and raising the white flag to hackers. It's time for the public and the U.S. government to stop relying on the insecure voice and text message services provided by phone companies, which are beyond salvaging, and embrace secure, end-to-end encrypted voice, video and text communications.”

Strongly agree
Wyden Statement on firing of Inspectors General:“Donald Trump is systematically dismantling the protections against abuse, corruption and fraud within the federal government,” Wyden said. “Courts should immediately strike down this blatantly illegal action. Firing IGs without notifying Congress 30 days in advance is clearly illegal. The only reason for Trump to carry out the midnight massacre of more than a dozen inspectors general without notice is to make it easier for him to break the law and help him and his wealthy cronies profit from the government without anyone looking over his shoulder.”

Big story from @wired.com overnight on data brokers selling location information about US military bases overseas. btw @wyden.senate.gov has been warning about this for A WHILE NOW
Experts caution that foreign governments could use this data to identify individuals with access to sensitive areas; terrorists or criminals could decipher when US nuclear weapons are least guarded; or spies and other nefarious actors could leverage embarrassing information for blackmail.

“The unregulated data broker industry poses a clear threat to national security,” says Ron Wyden, a US senator from Oregon with more than 20 years overseeing intelligence work. “It is outrageous that American data brokers are selling location data collected from thousands of brave members of the armed forces who serve in harms’ way around the world.”

Wyden approached the US Defense Department in September after initial reporting by BR and netzpolitik.org raised concerns about the tracking of potential US service members. DoD failed to respond. Likewise, Wyden's office has yet to hear back from members of US president Joe Biden's National Security Council, despite repeated inquiries. The NSC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“There is ample blame to go around,” says Wyden, “but unless the incoming administration and Congress act, these kinds of abuses will keep happening, and they'll cost service members' lives.”
