Enough to foam, not enough to drive. Like I know generally what aspects mean what enough to know what's coming at what speed, but the details escape me for now. Also, whodathunk DV plates could be a light that changes the DV status of a signal? I've seen this exactly twice.

Hot take: cafe cars suck actually. I much prefer Via Rail's service-at-your-seat model. Better for accessibility (you don't need to stumble through the train for a coffee) and you get at least some familiarity with the staff in your car in case of issues or emergencies.

what would be your ideal VIA corridor/intercity cafe cars menu if cafe cars still existed?

BBD remains the best to ever do it. CEM cabs I don't mind. Making your employees *not* the crumple zone is a plus in my opinion even if there is a slight inconvenience to ops. If the other manufacturers could stop making shitboxes that'd be good... Also fuck the K5CA horn on the CEMs.

on that note, how about the original bombardier bilevel cab vs the CEM cab + others bilevels like the Rotem, CRRC, etc. cabs

Three words: politics, location, history. We used to have one! The International was run by Amtrak and shared equipment with Via Rail often. There has been progress on reactivation in some form, but imo the way it's being done is the lowest effort possible.
