weirdly the ONLY other game i've played that has a thing like this is Kirby Air Riders i think? i forget if the original Air Ride also had it? i guess they both SORTA have it by virtue of the "slam down from the air" button also being the "charge boost" button, but Air Riders' is def more pronounced

i find i never remember to use it in the first half of most of my playthroughs, but once the various soldier minibosses start popping up it quickly becomes extremely helpful, and i found it absolutely crucial in the final boss (it seemed like a couple of attacks were even specifically spaced for it)
