#Beck Ep2 Tighter than the previous week, with more suspense and psychology. Ghosts of Rankin's Question of Blood, but very much it's own thing, and very topical. A little disjointed ultimately, and lacking some signposting, but probably worth your evening. Recommended.

#writingcommunity I'd encourage you to check out Carl. Always insightful about writing & what I would term a "practical philospher." Like Carl, writing is always more meaningful to me than publishing - hence, I don't market a great deal. Here, he focuses on writing value. youtu.be/YiQShWgp9RY?...

I admire Søren Sveistrup as much as the next reader (and nordic noir enthusiast), and will undoubtedly read Hide & Seek upon release. Crazy to think it's already in preproduction on Netflix, however.

#Figma Happy Birthday Figma. The thing about hitting your unruly teenage years is that you really need to rebel about those around you, rather than try and fit in. Do something...different...

Alfred Hitchcock Birthday of (maybe) the greatest director. Director of my two favourite movies of all time. In argument with Highsmith about Strangers on A Train, he was absolutely right - how a movie works and a novel are two different things.

#Beck I quite enjoyed Beck. It was slick, pacey, with enough personal dynamic. A little bit of telegraphing, and a lack of complication ultimately, but balanced out by an affecting connection between sibling. Too much end exposition, admittedly - but I was never not entertained.

#CrimeFiction I've nothing against Lynley - Elizabeth George is an excellent novelist. However, Daniel Mays has let himself go a bit. thekillingtimestv.wordpress.com/2025/07/31/f...
