Canoeing along the Delaware and Raritan canal. Peaceful and beautiful, we can’t wait to explore more of this 75 mile stretch of industrial heritage.

The preschoolers is a special needs class had a Makerspace visit! We read a story and then got creative! Learning is fun!

Puzzle season comes to a close.

A coffee table is laden with jigsaw puzzle boxes. There are 25 of them in piles..you can’t really see what the images are but on the side of the box it is clear that each one is 1000 pieces.

A friend just started chemo for a rare cancer. A meal train was set up. People stepped up. We will do this every week of treatment (one week every month) for the next 6 months. There ARE good people. Today is my turn. Here’s the menu:

A printed menu. There’s a cat at the top. The starter is a Mexican corn salad. The main dish is red lentil chili with all the fixings. There’s cornbread too. Dessert is clementines and brownies. I included movie night popcorn and some cat treats for her kitties.

UHC makes asthma medications very difficult to obtain Advair and its generic equivalents. I’ve run into it again and again. Thank god the company I’m insured through has a separate provider for maintenance meds. My advair generic is now supplied at no charge to me.

Another successful day in the MakerSpace. I'm going to focus on that. Culinary students made dishes featuring plants they nurtured in hydroponic garden units. Excellent work and delicious dishes. I'm so impressed with them! So many hurdles: root rot, spider mites, water issues...and yet, SUCCESS!

Brought the Makerspace to an autism spectrum preschool. We read The Rainbow Fish and each student created their own rainbow fish of course with a sparkly scale. So much fun!

10 years ago I posted about the attention on my daughter's DB of diverse SFF books. The National Book Foundation! From - OMG @malindalo.bsky.social ! From @ebonyteach.bsky.social ! She doesn't maintain it anymore but at the time it was an important resource. Today EVERY book would be banned. :(

My other job is as a cat bed.

Screen printing with the interns was a hit - but we need to work on de-messifying the process and improving the results. Also, created a series of write-on posters for use by the OTs in one of our Autism programs. Today is mostly focused on hydroponic gardening. Long live the Makerspace!

This weekend we did a family project. My daughter wanted to make custom boxes for all the bits and pieces of a friend’s Wingspan game. She designed boxes for each component and created a cut list. We cut using a laser cutter. Assembled and sanded, glued and added dividers. Success!

A fox sunbathes in our back garden.

A beautiful red fox is lying serenely on top of a dry fit stone wall. The fox is against the lattice of a deck wall… she’s nearly the same color. The fox’s tail is curled around her; she’s resting her chin on the black tip. She’s looking at the camera but doesn’t appear alarmed at all.

We made a cranberry curd tart. Delicious! Gluten free too thanks to an almond flour crust. What an amazing dessert. Tasted so good that the 10 of us ate the whole thing!

A round tart that is cranberry red. All around the perimeter are blush colored whipped cream rosettes. There’s one in the center too. Some of the curd filling was added to the cream… hence the subtle color.

Freshening up the hull of our cedar strip canoe. Sanding and revarnishing gets rid of the scratches she gets. Soon she’ll be hoisted up to the rafters to sleep until spring.

Our cedar strip canoe sits on stands upside down in the middle of the two car garage. The hull is very shiny from a fresh coat of varnish. The wood really stands out. JD is in blue work coveralls roller in hand applying the thin coat of varnish.
