Day 13 since mother was admitted (for stroke). Mother had one wish — not to end up in the hospital. And yet, here we are. Remembering the promises I made.. God knows how hard I cried the day I had to take her there.

Hari ke-13 emak di wad. Suhu badan 40.80. Sebelum ini turun naik 38-39. Doktor pun pening tak jumpa punca demam tak surut surut sejak hari pertama masuk. Kepada Allah Taala kita berserah.

Day 11 since mother was admitted (for stroke). Her eyes barely open now. The right arm—the only part of her body she could move and use to communicate—is getting weaker. Her responses slower. Her body temperature remains high. These days, she mostly sleeps.

Mother has made the final decision not to continue her Quran teaching. She has been teaching for as long as I can remember, and to let it go.. But her body has grown weak nowadays. The recent nerve attacks have severely affected the muscles around her mouth, making it hard for her to utter words.

"Kita ingat dapat ajar Quran sampai mati." Emak agak sedih tidak upaya lagi mengajar Quran. Kesihatannya merosot teruk selepas serangan angin minggu lepas. Emak sasar lain. Allah susun lain. Sesungguhnya Allah Taala lah sebaik-baik penyusun.

Berlatih kebiasaan baru: Sebelum/selepas buat suatu amalan sunnah, contohnya pulang melalui jalan lain selepas solat Aidilfitri, saya akan sebut: "Ya Allah, aku niatkan pulang melalui jalan lain ini kerana mengikut sunnah Nabi (selawat). Ya Allah, kurniakanlah daku nur dan barokah."

Mother decided to continue her Quran teaching class. I noticed that her health hasn't fully returned to normal, but she said she feels strong enough. I'm just supporting whatever she feels is best for her. 💕

Semalam dan pagi ini bersihkan sampah orang buang tepi tanah kami. Sampah terkumpul dua plastik beg sampah besar. Sambil kutip sampah saya doa, "Ya Allah, ampunilah dosaku. Ampunilah juga dosa orang-orang yang buang sampah ini. Maafkan kejahilan atau kemalasan mereka." 💔

I can't look at the 13yo girl and her 6yo sister for long—an overwhelming sorrow wells up in my eyes, threatening to spill over. They lost their father when they were very young. I saw firsthand how deeply he loved his daughters. I can only hope that, despite their loss, they find happiness one day.

My younger brother is blasting music in our store at 7 a.m.—probably needs it to get into work mode. It’s way too loud for my ADHD brain, so I’m at verandah, drinking mineral water, eating leftover Eid cookies. Scrolling Bluesky where everyone's talking about Trump and his market manipulation stunt.

Now that mother isn't well, I'm feeling the blues. I could imagine life without our father when he was still here, but not without our mother. How could I? She’s the pillar of the family. When she goes, that pillar will be gone too. I’m so not ready to lose her. 🤲

Ambil mangkuk siap-siap, letak mi laksa. Tabur kacang panjang potong dadu, taugeh, belacan hancur. Diserikan lagi dengan hirisan bunga kantan. Kuah laksa merah yang disimpan dalam peti ais malam tadi sedang perlahan-lahan mendidih atas dapur. Adik lelaki masuk, mencicip kuah. "Dah basi," katanya. 🥹

Mother lately hasn't been feeling well. Just last Sunday, she had 3 nerve attacks. I thought I might lose her that day. Now she feels weak all the time. She's been considering quitting her Quran teaching class, worried that another nerve attack could happen while she's teaching. GWS mother 💕

2 pencuri berjaya menghapuskan pencuri ketiga, yang baru pulang dari membeli makanan. Gembira, mereka makan sepuas-puasnya makanan yang dibawa pulang oleh rakan mereka tadi. Yang sebenarnya telah dibubuh racun. "Orang tamak selalu kenyang. Bukan orang tamak selalu rugi," kata adik lelaki. 🙄

Berlatih kebiasaan baru: Ketika mahu minum air, saya sebut "Bismillah", minum air seteguk, sebut "Alhamdulillah". Saya ulang minum 3 atau 5 teguk dengan cara yang sama. Jujurnya, amat mencabar di permulaan. Susah untuk sabar. Dan lebih susah dibuat jika minum terus dari botol atau pakai straw.

Berlatih kebiasaan baru. Ketika mahu makan (terutama makanan yang dimasak oleh orang lain), saya akan pandang tepat pada makanan dan sebut, "Ya Allah, berkatilah makananku ini dan seluruh isinya untuk diriku. Bismillahillazilayadhurru (sampai habis). Bismillah." Baru makan.

My brother, who sometimes does repair work at elderly people's house, mentioned something unusual. He noticed that squirrels often visit these homes, and shortly after, news would spread of the elder’s passing. Recently mother's health declines, and now a squirrel has started visiting our house.

I visited an agro shop to buy fertilizer for my banana trees. The shopkeeper asked, "How old are your trees?" I told him about a year. "We don't recommend fertilizing banana trees after they reach 7 months old. It can ruin the produce." But, but.. I fed some of the trees fertilizer 2 weeks ago. 😵‍💫

A 4yo walks in, heading straight for the lollipop jar. Just as the boy about to grab a lollipop, his mom who's waiting outside yells "One only!". He turns around, raises his right hand, and gives her mini love. The mom then says, “Alright, you can take two.” Turns out that mini heart means '2'. 🥲
