At #ISBE2026 in Turin, Dominika Winiarska, Weronika Mierzejewska and I presented our research on bird song amplitude and communication in passerines. Our work was supported by the National Science Centre, Poland @ncn.gov.pl (grant 2022/47/D/NZ8/00565)
I explored how birds combine visual and acoustic cues when defending territories.Weronika Mierzejewska investigated the factors shaping song loudness in European passerines.Dominika Winiarska highlighted the importance of song amplitude in avian communication.

We have begun securing new areas on the University of Białystok campus that are hotspots for bird-glass collisions. This time, we’re using stickers from the Glass Traps Foundation.

Field season 2026 has begun! 🐦 We’re launching experiments on how territorial birds react to songs of different amplitudes - from loud to soft songs. This @ncn.gov.pl‑funded project is carried out with @dmwiniarska.bsky.social and Biology students from the University of Białystok.

Our new research from University of Białystok campus shows how scavengers hide the true scale of bird–glass collisions. You can read the article here: rdcu.be/e6I43 doi.org/10.1007/s103... #UrbanEcology #Birds #Conservation #Science #GlassCollisions #Białystok

When the reviews land and they’re this good: "To be honest, it has been a while since the last time I have enjoyed so much reviewing a paper, and I think this ms fits very well in the focus of the journal." 😍
