I don’t talk much about my stroke so here’s a reminder of the symptoms and the fact that I was in perfect health when it happened (and not a single risk factor). If you have a brain it can break - the good news there have been new treatments even since mine 12 years ago- so get help! Time is brain!

BE FAST

B balance sudden loss of balance?
E eyes Loss one change of vision in one or both eyes?

F face looks uneven? Drooping?
A arm or leg weak/ hanging down?
S speech slurred? Trouble speaking or seem confused?
T time - call 911 now!

Do you read Catriona Ward? Last House on Needless Street was the first book of hers that I read, so now I am incapable of trusting anyone in her books ever, and I mean that in the best way. Also, she’s one of those writers that makes me angry at how good she is.

Today is the 14 year anniversary of my stroke! This book, dedicated to the 3 clots that tried to kill me, was started while I was still in the hospital. My daughter was in second grade when she saved my life. I’m a Little Brain Dead. Happy birthday to you!

Prints are a great way to support human artists- I was able to get a few from @warpsol.bsky.social and I love them- Coffee Bot and Plant Bot are the only bots I’m interested in!

Review of I’m a Little Brain Dead
5 stars I laughed out loud… about a book about a stoke.

Besides the wry satirical voice that entertains from beginning to end, this book not only takes the reader inside the experience of having a stroke, it reveals much about the medical establishment and critiques how hospitals treat patients. Since I am dealing with this as an advocate for a family member, I found it utterly relatable. I also found the idiosyncrasies of “Lovely Hubby” and the marital arguments really well observed and funny. The self deprecating humor is worthy of a standup show. Highly recommend.
