Kdawg @kdawg.com · 17/01/2026This week's experiment, I challenged myself to make a double mold pour. I designed two molds where one pour sits inside the other (this about broke my brain again, lol). The scent used is Cedar & Juniper. Time lapse video of one 3D print for those interested, in the comments. #b3d #Soap 120
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 11/01/2026Another experiment. What I learned is; -I'm not good at pouring intricate spaces -Need to make channels wider & deeper walls -Need to pour hotter for better flow This soap looks like strawberry banana. I wish I had those scents. I ended up using an "Oak & Moss" scent. #b3d #soap 000
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 04/01/2026(1 of 3) In my new soap making journey, this is the first time where I integrated 3D printing and silicone mold making. I used Blender to create the design(s). Then 3D printed everything I needed. Coated the prints in resin to make a silicone mold. Then I poured the soap. #b3d 200
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 28/12/2025I always loved the candles made by dipping and creating layers, so I wondered if that could be done with melt/pour soap. I figured I'd do a quick and dirty experiment. I think it turned out pretty cool. I was working haphazardly, but the proof of concept works! 😁 #soap 000
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 27/12/2025First experiment of trying to see if the pull-through method with melt & pour soap is possible. Here's the pieces I designed in Blender and 3D printed. I think I need to come up with a more intricate disk design to create better swirls, but still a fun result. #b3d #soap 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 26/12/2025I've started making soap, and have been toying with ideas of how to incorporate Blender skills into soap making. 🤔 Here's a couple pics of soaps I made (to familiarize myself) and then some experimenting with Blender & mold shapes (I had to try the Voronoi texture). #b3d 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 01/12/2025Another animated 3D texture. This is the "Magic Texture" for those who use Blender. #b3d 030
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 30/11/2025Another 3D texture, this one is a distorted wave texture with the phase animated. #b3d 020
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 30/11/2025Another experiment with "negative space". A Voronoi 3D texture is used to create the pattern, and then a distance function to create the shapes. #b3d 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 18/11/2025Continuing with the exploration of 3D tiling/intersecting shapes. This one is based off a Voronoi - Minkowski texture. The blue portion connects all the way through the orange portion. #b3d 021
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 17/11/2025Here's an example of tiling, using the SDF Grid nodes in Blender 5.0. I used a Voronoi-Manhattan 3D texture to create this pattern. Interesting how it ends up with hexagons & squares. #b3d 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 17/11/2025Testing out the new Grid nodes in Blender 5.0 Beta. You can really do some cool stuff. Here's a test nesting some waves. #b3d 120
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 04/11/2025Finally testing out Blender 5.0 Beta. Here's an animation based on the node setup by Ducky3D . Time to explore some more. 😁 #b3d 020
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 01/11/2025Here's another mono-tile tessellation using an intersecting egg shape. #b3d 🥚 110
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 01/11/2025Here's a mono-tile tessellation I made today. It reminds me of candy corn. 🌽 #b3d 030
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 20/10/2025After watching @polyfjord.bsky.social's last tutorial, I wanted to expand on it with an idea I had. I made a cube w/a colorful texture. Animated a camera on a path to make video. Then used that video as the projection from the light, and moved the light on the same path as the camera. #b3d 120
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 21/09/2025Testing out the new TencentHunyuan version 3, Image to 3D model tool. Pretty good! 000
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 08/08/2025Another 3D tessellation. You can rotate all the tiles on the X, Y, or Z axis and still tessellate. #b3d 000
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 06/08/2025Marble race through a Truchet tile system (uses 4 different tiles). #b3d 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 05/08/2025I was watching that game show The Wall, and wondered if I could make a Truchet tile system and let balls race through it. Behold! 😁 It also reminds me of marble racing. #b3d 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 04/08/2025New tiling/tessellation setup. Two tiles with some mirroring. I call this one the "Scorpion Tile" 🦂😁 #b3d 000

Kdawg @kdawg.com · 29/07/2025Using Blender's "shortest" path node, the target moves from bottom to top and the grid recalculates the shortest paths as it moves. #b3d 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 29/07/2025The apollonian/kleinian fractal, created using raymarching in Blender. Based on a tutorial by Sean Terelle. #b3d (1/2) 120
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 28/07/2025Working on my geometry node tile setup to mimic MC Escher's art where tiles morph into birds/animals/etc. The bird tiles on the right do perfectly tesselate, but a lot of the time, MC Escher would space out the tiles once they morphed. #b3d 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 28/07/2025I just used Hitem3d's image to 3d model tool, wow! Most detail of any of these tools I've used before. Here's the input image and the model created pulled into Blender. It has 1.02 million vertices for those wondering. 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 24/07/2025And now a Truchet sphere. This one is shader based though, not physical mesh. Also there's a pesky seam I couldn't get rid of, LOL. #b3d 020
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 24/07/2025I made a Truchet tile cylinder. This was harder than originally thought and I'm not sure I made it in the most efficient way, but it works! #b3d 010
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 24/07/2025This is fun, an animated Truchet tile maze. The tiles rotate randomly every few seconds. Try and get from the green hexagon to the red hexagon as fast as you can. Don't get stuck! 😁 #b3d 000
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 23/07/2025A twisting mobius strip with 4 twists. (related to the tile fountain setup) #b3d 020
Kdawg @kdawg.com · 23/07/2025Truchet Tile maze based on hexagons. (I also did some cleanup after to make it better). #b3d 000
