I love eating and I don't miss eating animals. This is what I wake up with every morning. Keeps me fueled through breakfast and no weird ingredients. Breakfast burrito for life! #veganfood #whatveganseat #realfood Awyeah! It's the only thing I ever want before 7am.

Pantry Challenge Meal for One Lentil Soup in July I mostly followed the recipe from Serious Eats, but didn't have brown lentils or potatoes or chard (garden kale, ftw!). It's a pantry challenge, after all. 😉 This is a perfect soup. And it will freeze well for later. #veganfood #whatveganseat

Fuck yes, this is a good looking bowl of lentil soup! In the foreground, there is a bowl of orangey-yellow soup with red sumac sprinklings and dark green ribbons of kale mixed in. Behind that are two lemon slices for juicing and some chonks of bread. All of this is served on the bottom of an upsidedown garden bucket. Classy!

Getting down to the last days of school. 😮‍💨 My students have a multi-part final with the option to design and build a medieval castle (of 3x5 cards). Here's my exemplar. 🏰 They will also need to create a family crest and author their own code of chivalry. 🛡️

I used to listen to podcasts on my runs. These days, it's full albums played through, no skips. This morning, was Belly's debut album Star. When "Feed the Trees" hit the airwaves of my local alternative station, it changed me. I sang it to the clerk at Tower Records so she could help me find it.

I used to listen to podcasts on my runs. These days, it's full albums played through, no skips. Today's album was Radiohead's Kid A. The opening notes of "Everything in It's Right Place" are sonic perfection. And it just gets weirder, thrummier, and better from there.

Chapter 10 in The Outsiders today. This is the only chapter I can't bring myself to read aloud. Not a dry-eyed 8th grader in the room. Even the kids who hate reading react to this book. We talked about how being tuff can include feeling one's feelings.
