Overall, it is not only a privilege to have my blog selected as one of two undergraduate research projects, but it was a pleasure to research such a topical, exciting subject and such a topical, exciting person. I am eagerly looking forward to my next piece already! 4/4

Angie Zelter in particular was very influential to the course. Listening to her global accomplishments was an unforgettable part of the @sussex.ac.uk Law LLB as a whole. 3/4 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angie_Z...

This short piece concerns the definition of violence in the public order offences and the justifications thereof. It was written for the undergraduate Protest Law Module, where I had the opportunity to speak with many figures that make a difference to protest in the UK. 2/4

New laws, improved education on disability and more effective policing are all needed to combat the epidemic of hatred in this country. People like Sean lose the will to fight every day; as a country, we must act before we lose ourselves to injustice and cruelty. (4/4)

This is evidently insufficient. Disability hate crime, like transgender hate crime, is not equal with other protected characteristics such as race and religion. Those characteristics are also protected under the Public Order Act 1986 and the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, but not disability. (3/4)

...should not be allowed to exist in the modern day. Current legislation, as Sean rightly points out, supposedly protects disabled people from discrimination. The Equality Act 2010 Section 15 provides that it is unlawful to treat someone unfavourably due to their disability. (2/4)

This disgusting disablist treatment of those in society more vulnerable to mistreatment is indicative of how current British hate crime legislation is insufficient. Something so historically symbolic of inequality as refusal of service and violent abuse... (1/4) www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It's not a difference of political opinions if the opposing side's opinion is that you aren't human or shouldn't exist. That's not how anything works.

I think Arcane is such an excellent example of a show which is bursting with exciting diversity. It's not performative, either. Complex lesbian relationships? Disability treated with respect? POC leaders? Trans characters? All written with care and complexity to enhance the already brilliant story.

Brilliant stuff from these two as always. Saw Exploding Heads live in Brighton when they were on tour, got hit in the head with a ball and whether it was the concussion (/j) or the wonderfully hilarious comedy and satire, I'd say it was the best comedy gig I've seen. Love to the family indeed! 😁

Hullo, my name's Kane, I'm a law student in the UK hoping to move into studying hate crime in the future. I also enjoy GMing Tabletop Role-playing games; whether real or fictional, then, I love helping to create stories where good triumphs over a seemingly insurmountable evil.
