Yeah kind of crazy for me to not include perhaps my favorite game of all time but I think sm64ds captured my imagination more as a kid & it with wii sports resort had more multi-player elements that created a deeper bond with my brother and opened me up to how games connect people

Recently had the desire to buy the DK Banaza DLC & have been playing it a bit while sick. I just got THIS to come on for the first time after reaching level 15 in an Emerald Rush and HOLY BANGER

Splatoon at Riptide as come such a long way. Here’s a video from 2021 (the first Riptide). We were in the River Room from 2021 - 2024 The startgg page for this event doesn’t exist anymore but I’m fairly certain we “only” had between 25 - 30 teams max. It’s crazy how much we’ve grown as a scene

This riptide we made an effort to improve splatoon's stream downtime by filling in with content recorded on site. Here's a behind the scenes demo on how this worked! Hope you all enjoyed the stream :)

For those who don’t know, I was the person responsible for a majority of the additional content that was aired during the Splatoon broadcast at Riptide. It was busy, but a lot of fun! Thank you @level1.tv for allowing me to assist, and a big thank you to @jpg.level1.tv for the easy integration!

These are ways for people to begin testing the water without diving full in, which is excellent and is healthy. There's a bunch more people who take the game seriously but don't know tournaments exist or just don't want to play in those for their own reasons and that's fine!

Kenneth @kbot273.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

This playerbase was always there, but they didn't engage with comp because they didn't sign up for day long tournaments or travel to Ohio for hundreds of dollars. Now there's a thriving local ecosystem, Low Ink is an institution, & multiple comp-focused YouTubers to watch which gets them engaged.

Kenneth @kbot273.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

I do think you're wrong on this point. Your perspective as someone who has grown up alongside this community (as have I) has evolved over time to consider the wider semi-comp player as a part of the comp scene because you see them at LANs/Locals & are trying to reach that group as possible attendees

This weekend, a 12 year old won #SWS26. 11 years and 2 days prior, on August 7, 2015, the first western #CompSplatoon tournament commenced: Ink or Sink. Sena was 1. Is this what feeling old is like?

tbh, couldn't have asked for a better conclusion to #sws26. is there a feat more impressive than dropping to losers in the first round and winning the whole bracket? the gameplay that rush brought to the table, especially out of sena and goyame, was straight up ridiculous
