My granddad went on a cooking kick when he retired and he would buy all this expensive specialized equipment, make something once and move on. My grandma just rolled her eyes, chuckled and let him do his thing. 😂 I still have the all-clad salmon poacher he used like 3 times.

Shawn - who let Jan Spears move in when she was pregnant - “can’t believe” Alex is letting Joy move in? #Days

I hate the Joy storyline! I know folks are struggling to pay rent these days but both Alex and Stephanie have well paying jobs and come from wealthy families and I’m pretty sure Jada sublets from Alex so why not just give Joy that apt and help Jada & Shawn move? It’s all so stupid. #Days

20 yrs ago folks were already getting priced out of FL and going to places like Georgia and Alabama but these upper middle class NYers aren’t the ones getting priced out - they’re the ones keeping prices high because they CAN sustain $90K/yr exps in retirement and likely have a ton of home equity.

Not even that because he would charge them usurious fees and require them to buy shit from his “club”. The only outcome I’d be ok with is eminent domaining it and then turning it into a housing shelter and food bank.

Dude that tried to imprison Comey for “86” does not deserve any kind of benefit of the doubt on “let ‘em take out San Diego”.

The same jokers who spent two years obsessing about Hunter Biden are *completely silent* as the Trump family literally takes in not thousands or 100ks or even millions but BILLIONS on insider trading and graft.

These assholes want you to buy that not being able to impose their religious views on everyone else hampers their freedom when what they’re actually demanding is the right to restrict other people’s freedoms based on their particular brand of religion. It’s not freedom - it’s religious supremacy.

This. Like… did you know Jewish women have to get the consent of their husbands to get a Jewish divorce (called a get)? My parents legally divorced in 1981 and my mom finally got her *religious* divorce about 25 years later (my dad had been remarried with 3 more kids for almost all of those 25 yrs)

Anyway, I’m really sorry your Dad was such an asshole and went out of his way to be an asshole and based on my experience there’s a certain kind of freedom when they keep reconfirming that they’re assholes and not having them in your life was absolutely the right choice.

Kid #1 is STILL living off his parents at 50 and kid #2 was conditioned to choose misery and material wealth to an extent he’s just now digging out of. I at least know I am where I am because of the choices I’ve made and not sacrificing those choices for a down payment on a house or a new car.

I come from the poor side of my family but my mom’s sister married into money and the way they used money to control their kids made me glad I could easily choose independence. I recognized even then that there was a freedom in being (relatively) poor that they’d never have.

Um - that time never existed at scale. There were outliers but most of corporate existence is labor exploitation with any improvements coming from worker push back (unions). They let kids die working in factories and mines. Companies only want workers to be healthy because unhealthy ones can’t work.

I’m not defending Collins at all but 1994 was pre ACA and it very much depended on whether you had pre-existing conditions. My mom had a brain tumor in 1990 and in 1994 her premiums were around $24,000 a year and if she didn’t pay she’d have entirely lost the ability to get insurance.

Real mayo actually works quite well - it doesn’t actually taste of anything but it spreads evenly and creates very good browning/crunch on the bread. I didn’t believe it until I tried it but it really does work 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dude / you are literally having to pretend words don’t have meaning to get to your conclusion. “Let them take out San Diego” is not confusing - changing or adding words not actually said to come to your *desired* interpretation doesn’t make it any less a fantasy.

Maybe the answer is that banker bonuses have to have built in tiered delays for milestone completion? I don’t know but right now bankers have no incentive not to risk *other people’s money* and HUGE fiscal incentives to do so and it’s harming *everyone*

kbethany.bsky.social @kbethany.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Even aside from the anti-trust, the larger underlying issue is that these huge debt funded purchases should not be allowed. I’m not sure what the answer is and *some* debt is ok but these overly leveraged buyouts keep destroying companies and businesses and hurt everyone but the deal makers.

This is also why I think Tesla and Waymo executives should be held criminally liable if their cars kill people. We have to create real world (not “the company’s money”) consequences for actions that hurt real people. Fines don’t cut it.

She was - according to the first part of the ad - rescued by the “human trafficking unit” he’s claiming responsibility for as AG? But all it does is remind us again that he gave his pedophile donor pal a sweetheart deal so *at best* selectively prosecutes sex crimes.

Actually that looks to me like the 2 stick packages sold at Trader Joe’s for around $5 (so $2.50 per stick). There is cheaper butter you might find on sale for $4/lb if you’re lucky which would be $1/stick but that fancy European style cultured butter ain’t it.

I didn’t see my dad for most of my childhood. I started seeing him as an adult (he raised my siblings) but pretty early on he espoused on the “benevolent dictator is better than democracy” (in like 2003?) and I was like “mom wasn’t lying, he really IS an asshole”.

Im no fan of WaPo these days but I think WaPo was the *only* major outlet I saw phrase the headline to directly refer to his admitted abuse without phrasing it like a thing that happened to him instead of a thing he repeatedly did to innocent kids. Our media is so effed up.

I do like that we’re seeing #Days model positive ex-spouse behavior and not using exes as forever-jealous story lines. Even seeing Kate struggle not to be jealous of Roman comforting Marlena after John died was good to see.

This!!!! Not just data centers but *any* new build where usage is more than 2x the average building of its size (where avg excludes other outlier mega users) should have to build additional renewable capacity to provide the extra power. Period.

I legit pay $15 for 10 trash bags (but that’s because we don’t have trash pickup so that’s how we pay the local dump). I have literally spent $50 for 30 trash bags and 1/2 gallon of (local farm, glass bottle) milk 😳

10 instructors making $150k/yr splitting 150 students is $10k/year of tuition before any other costs. It’s *really hard* to make it cheaper without large class sizes and/or underpaying professors. That’s why small liberal arts colleges are going out of business.

Doesn’t matter because the “facts” he’s quoting to support that view are all false. Wages aren’t up more than costs. Consumer confidence is lower than it’s been in decades and the new housing numbers are flat or down, not up. Tapper should have called him out on each of those lies but didn’t.

kbethany.bsky.social @kbethany.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
In fact housing starts, permits and completions are all DOWN significantly. That took me 30 seconds to find on Census.Gov. There’s also been lots of news re consumer confidence being lowest in decades. So why didn’t Tapper push back on THOSE lies?
Census.gov chart of new residential construction from 8/2021-8/2026. Both permits and completions look to be at lowest and starts at 2nd lowest but 1st lowest was like 2 months ago and that data is a little spiky. There’s a clear downturn from Biden years and zero recovery with no spike in permits to indicate the other metrics will improve.

kbethany.bsky.social @kbethany.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I don’t have the stats to fact check but was the rest of his response *also* lies? I find it very hard to believe all of the metrics aren’t fairly bad. Could have sworn the only “good” housing news was that prices were falling but I thought that was because of ARR hike? Did Tapper just let him lie?

Honestly, I’m not sure the problem was that Hill and Ford weren’t believed; I think the real problem might have been that lots of Senators didn’t actually find sexual harassment or assault to be disqualifying.
