i don't even mind the concept of song score rankings (garupa has them) but focusing EXCLUSIVELY on song score is really p2w and there's not much reward for people who don't whale it also doesn't do a good job of incorporating the mechanics into event gameplay it can be casual and not unrewarding yk?

upon further reflection i don't think atsudori not having tiering is a *bad* thing specifically, and i think it would be interesting to see how a game lasts without the (admittedly very predatory) tiering systems in place in other games but the way they're doing it is so p2w i can't be happy with it

i do tiering because it's fun and it's a way to show my love for my favorite characters!! this takes away all the fun. i genuinely don't know wtf they were thinking. whales pull gacha enough so they play once and log off. low spenders & f2p have no chance. 0 player retention ensues
