And re: your slug It’s “thread the needle” or “tread the line”. Not “thread the line”. That doesn’t even make sense.

You don’t have to resort to name-calling just because you don’t understand something. Here’s a visual aid to help you out. People haven’t been “spoiled” by anything. Wealth has been concentrated upward and labour is being compensated by less for decades. But keep licking the boot on your neck, lol
A graph showing how wages used to track upward with productivity, and how it has since been decoupled from that so workers continue to bring in more value while not being compensated in kind.

My guy. nobody *forced* Netflix or Disney or anybody to set their prices like they did. They did so purposefully, to undercut the competition, because they could eat the short-term losses. and now they’re capitalizing. And you’re over here being like, “squeeze me harder, mouse daddy!” lol

You could LEARN though, right? Isn’t that your literal jobs, as “leaders”? Understanding the needs of your constituents and “leading” the way forward? Am I taking crazy pills?

News outlet with ties to ai stokes marketing program for ai that beneficiaries of ai are worried a glorified Netflix algorithm is somehow a threat to a humanity. Credibility here is through the roof.

So many parents we know think exactly like this though and it’s crazy. Like, you decided to have kids. Guess what, your life might change a bit — including, least of all, your boring ass neutral aesthetic

Don’t need to solve for alignment when there’s literally 0% chance of a superintelligence emerging from an LLM 🤷‍♂️

Want to be loud and clear that I agree with this post wholeheartedly. Made sure to mention in my reply that we Canadians certainly aren’t any paragons to look up to, and it’s for this very reason.

Just can’t understand the specific flavour of American who takes this moment to personally try and drive the US/canada wedge further even while they claim to be leftist and progressive. Blocked, anyway. Obvs.

I understand where jazz is coming from. I’d argue it’s somewhat exceptionalist to suggest America is in the same geopolitical position to render anti-fascist aid as it was in the 1940s. Y’all have been engaged in some pretty isolationist policy making lately, if you’ve haven’t realized.

Kay dublya @kaydublya.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
I do, 100%, which is why I make the point in the exact comment you’re responding to that we sure aren’t in a good spot ourselves up here either. Thanks though ☺️

THIS is true as it’s ever been. Fucking unfortunately.

Kay dublya @kaydublya.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Wanna be clear, I have a ton of respect for jazz and been an appreciator for a long while. I don’t have any qualms re: the point about the rise of fascism. I get uneasy at the exceptionalism of standing in a sinking ship while boasting, “i knew we’d have to save those Germans from drowning again.”

Kay dublya @kaydublya.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Yeah. And it was a different situation than it is now. To pretend it wasn’t is to engage in the same willful ignorance and wishful thinking that got us to where we are today.

Kay dublya @kaydublya.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Speaking as a Canadian, I’ll believe it when I see it. Y’all are down in it just as deep as the Germans are currently, if not more so. And I say this knowing that we’re not having the best time of it here north of the border, either. Fascism is on the rise and the typical bastions are crumbling.

Although to be fair this is a fairly unique problem. Never before has a director been faced with the issue of needing to depict someone on screen who is no longer able to portray themselves. Like, what was my guy to do.

I said this on one of his other posts and immediately had libs chastising me about the importance of due process for data centres 🙄

Kay dublya @kaydublya.bsky.social · 28/08/2026
I hope you’re right. Honestly, I do. Because it all just feels like the long way round toward a destination that’s actually only a few decisive steps away — and it feels like with stuff like this, we tend to get lost along the way the more that we meander.

Kay dublya @kaydublya.bsky.social · 28/08/2026
Many governing bodies have put moratoriums on data centre builds, because data centres universally hurt communities and accelerate the climate meltdown of our planet. Sounds like you aren’t worried about any of that, though, and that’s cool; it’s fine to have different opinions on things 😉

Kay dublya @kaydublya.bsky.social · 28/08/2026
Longtime fan of yours naheed but fuck data centres, nobody wants them here, and that goes for conservatives and ndp’ers alike.

Naw, you’re right ofc. LLMs are very different in that they come loaded with a whole host of horrific moral and environmental concerns, too. Thanks for making sure nobody forgot about these key differentiators!

This must be a bit, because you’re literally doing the meme right now.
Meme of a man telling a computer to say “I am alive,” which the computer says, to which the man replies “oh my god” in disbelief.

They’re algorithms. The only thing they can possibly do is follow their own programming instructions. You don’t…you don’t believe they’re like, *thinking* of this stuff themselves, do you bro? 🤡

lol it’s not Netflix is going to go to its shareholders and be like, “hey, that thing we’ve been dumping metric tons of cash into? Turns out it sucks shit.” There’s no roi on ai. It’s not here to stay. It’s here until the bubble pops. 🤷‍♂️

Wait, I thought the one thing these ai ghouls always came back to is how good their ideas always are? Now they’re saying they can’t even come up with the ideas on their own, they need ai to help with that too?

“I only use it for storyboarding.” Oh, you mean you only use it for carving out the foundational vision, the fundamental platform upon which all the rest of your creative endeavour will be built upon? Cool cool cool, sounds very low-stakes and non-impactful. 🙄

The way these boomers — these supposed vanguards of art and creativity — are completely hoodwinked and bedazzled by ai is so disappointing, yet also so predictable and obvious. They let us down in every other generational capacity; why not this one too, I suppose
