Our new paper is out this week in Nature Neuroscience! www.nature.com/articles/s41... We built a BCI that works with the brain's natural geometry — and we found that people could learn to play a video game with their brains in <1 hr of training. This efficiency is groundbreaking & here's why:

Excited to share my first-author paper now out in @natcomms.nature.com (www.nature.com/articles/s41...)! Here, we asked whether verbal narratives about social interactions activate the same brain areas as audiovisual presentations, and whether they overlap with theory of mind (ToM). (1/11)

Common and distinct neural correlates of social interaction processing and theory of mind in narratives - Nature Communications
Miao et al. find that recognizing social interactions in third-person narratives engages canonical brain areas subserving theory of mind. Using theory of mind recruits additional areas linked to action understanding.

This one feels good 😊 Humbled and honored to be in the company of Spence Award winners, past and present. All credit goes to mentors, colleagues, and especially members of my lab -- thank you!!!

Hi new followers! My lab studies when/how/why the same input can provoke different interpretations in different people (or in the same person across time). But we also do fun stuff with human-AI alignment and conversation. Hoping we can make bsky like the old days of science Twitter; miss that!
