June update of AI model choices Kimi 2.6 has been the blow away surprise for me; often it keeps pace with GPT-Medium. Also OpenCode + OpenChamber is another sleeper hit. This harness combo is allowing me to do a lot more. Full post @ kau.sh/blog/ai-mode...

and it's even faster for me to switch windows/sessions with an fzf powered window switcher. i simply type the name of the thing i'm doing and i'm popped right in.

i know cmux is the rage but a highly customized tmux still feels 👑 for power users. it's quicker for me to get a sense of the sessions and windows just by looking at them in one shot (ofc they're completely rename-able) updates or alerts in the session? the panes light up.

Here's my list of reasons for using OpenCode 1. Switch between models on the fly 2. client-server architecture (a.k.a built-in remote control) 3. Subagent + mode features 4. Opinionated UX 5. “Highly” customizable via plugins kau.sh/blog/opencod...

i like a lot of the new tmux-ish emulators like cmux but the smoothest workflow i've found is just using ghostty & one main tmux session. ☝️ one window for each task i'm working on with name "i" recognize quickly. then use fzf to search the tmux window list pane & switch ⚡

So MCP & AGENTS are under AAIF (Linux Foundation): "open" in the true governance sense. Agent Skills is different though: it's a public spec on a github repo but still "maintained by Anthropic".

AI model choices as of today! kau.sh/blog/ai-mode...
A common question I get is, “Which AI model should I use for X task?”

Models evolve so rapidly that I never felt like I could give an answer that would stay relevant for more than a month or two.

This year, I finally feel like I have a stable set of model choices that consistently gives me good results. I’m jotting it down here to share more broadly, and to trace how my own choices evolve over time.

GPT 5.2 (High) for planning and writing, including writing plans
Opus 4.5 for anything coding, task automation, and tool calling

Gemini’s range of models for everything else:

Gemini 3 (Thinking) for learning and understanding concepts (underrated)
 - Gemini 3 (Flash) for my go-to quick-answer questions
 - Nano Banana (obv) for all image generation
 - NVIDIA’s Parakeet for voice transcription

Go with monthly AI subscriptions friends.

I can’t remember where I read this tip, but given how fast the AI lab models move, it’s smarter to stick with a monthly plan instead of locking into an annual one, even if the annual price looks more attractive.

I hit a DI issue on Android and was too lazy to debug it myself, so I pointed two models at it. GPT Codex gave me the cleanest, correct fix. Claude Sonnet 4.5 found a fix, but it wasn’t idiomatic and was pretty aggressive with the changes.

A month ago, I wouldn’t have bothered with anything other than the Claude models for coding. Today, Codex clearly feels ahead. Google is about to ship its next Gemini model and, from what I’m hearing, it’s going to be absurdly good.

In these wonderfully unstable times, monthly subscriptions are the way to go.

agents.md actually lists this out well. > extra, sometimes detailed context coding agents need: build steps, tests, and conventions that might clutter a README or aren’t relevant to human contributors.

Introducing “shorts” for Henry (my Hugo blog engine/theme).

Often, I find myself wanting to post a quick thought or note without the ceremony of a full-blown “blog post”. That’s usually when I’d post to Bluesky, X, Threads, or Mastodon.

But as I’ve said before, I prefer investing in a feed I control. With Henry, I can effortlessly post a quick thought, and share it from a feed I own.

you can customize Firefox with CSS. my Firefox actually looks similar to this: github.com/rakhalfps/gw... I've been vertical tabbing for quite sometime now and have it almost as clean as Safari.

Here's a quick example of how i used #Cursor today for some #AndroidDev. It got about ~85% of the way. But importantly it took almost no 🧠 headspace and I could just sit back while it combed through the gradle files figuring things out.

Cursor @cursor.com.web.brid.gy (for AI coding) and @warp.dev (for Terminal-ing) has really started to spoil me. Especially with Warp, there are things that annoy me about it but dang it's so nice to just talk to your terminal and not have to recollect the command contortions on my own.

If you haven't used the "Emoji Workshop" when picking a wallpaper for your Pixel phone, I highly recommend it. I initially dismissed it as a what er feature but I tried it on a whim and it's brilliant, with a live twist that works well for Android. Wish I used the feature sooner !

Am I missing something? This is the image picker folder structure on my Android phone now. 😒. This is the kind of experience that's just such a turn off in terms of quality and polish.
