For a couple of years in the 1980s the International Human Powered Vehicle Association held their championships in Indianapolis. Pegasus was a 375 lb., four-passenger vehicle in which the riders sat two abreast and back to back. I don’t recall what its best lap speed was, but it was photogenic.

It took a year, but thanks to having a Welsh grandmother I now have UK citizenship. That means I can’t travel to the UK with my US passport though, so that’s my next project.

Got word yesterday that my application for UK citizenship was approved! Ceremony in 16 weeks or longer, then I can get a passport.

Good news in the email box this morning: “I am pleased to tell you that your application for British citizenship has been approved.” My ceremony could be as much as six months away, but I've been working on this for a year. It will be nice to have options!

Getting away from home was chaotic – we picked our car up from the mechanic, drove five hours to board our dogs then another two hours the next morning to catch a plane. Flew to D.C., then to Dublin, where we caught yet another plane to Edinburgh. Our stay at Melville Castle has been restorative.

Just went on an organized tree tour of a cemetery yesterday led by the on-staff arborist. There was a movement in the U.S. in the 1820s toward planning cemetery landscapes and tree selection was a major part of that.

I was VERY pleased with how everything turned out. Smoked the pork for about 10 hours with peat in the smoker box and a little Bourbon in the water tray. Put it over rice like you did, and dressed it with tomatoes and cilantro with a drizzle of good balsamic vinegar and bbq sauces on the side.
