went to see what ben garrison is up to and wow things are truly not well for the republicans in the midterms if even garrison has to acknowledge it
A Ben Garrison political cartoon entitled "Midterm race." Trump sits on a giant smiling elephant. He's doing two thumbs up and the elephant holds an American flag with his nose. The elephant has a tiny ball-and-chain tethered to his ankle that reads "high gas prices." To Trump's right is a generic woman (with a hat that reads "AOC") on an angry donkey, who has an enormous ball-and-chain attached to him that reads "insane socialist policies." All the way to the left of the image is an Uncle Sam shooting a starter's pistol and he's weirdly excited for the midterms.

my favorite song about AI
lyrics from Yacht's song "The Bubbles (Are Running The Bathtub)":
Have you seen my car?
Its chrome expanse?
It drives itself
But what it really wants to do is dance

Have you seen my house?
Its sleek effect?
It locks itself
But it really wants to direct

The bubbles, the bubbles
They’re running the bathtub
The bubbles, the bubbles
They’re running the bathtub

re: Ross Douthat’s op-ed (from “Caliban and the Witch” by Silvia Federici)
"However, by the end of the 15th century, a counter-revolution was already under way at every level of social and political life. First, efforts were made by the political authorities to co-opt the youngest and most rebellious male workers, by means of a vicious sexual politics that gave them access to free sex, and turned class antagonism into an antagonism against proletarian women. As Jacques Rossiaud has shown in Medieval Prostitution (1988), in France, the municipal authorities practically decriminalized rape, provided the victims were women of the lower class. In 14th-century Venice, the rape of an unmarried proletarian woman rarely called for more than a slap on the wrist, even in the frequent case in which it involved a group assault (Ruggiero 1989: 91–108). The same was true in most French cities. Here, the gang-rape of proletarian women became a common practice which the perpetrators would carry out openly and loudly at night, in groups of two to fifteen, breaking into their victims’ homes, or dragging their victims through the streets, without any attempt to hide or disguise themselves. Those who engaged in these “sports” were young journeymen or domestic servants, and the penniless sons of well-to-do families, while the women targeted were poor girls, working as maids or washerwomen, of whom it was rumored that they were “kept” by their masters (Rossiaud 1988: 22). On average, half of the town male youth, at some point, engaged in these assaults…"

cannot stop thinking about the idea of “common sense” as it is constantly used by rightwingers today in relation to how Sylvia Wynter describes the concept used historically
highlighted text from Sylvia Wynter’s 2003 essay "Unsettling the Coloniality of Being/Power/Truth/Freedom: Towards the Human, After Man, Its Overrepresentation—An Argument.” The highlighted text reads: " It was therefore within the terms of this new 'common
sense'—and in the context of his defense of the settlers’ rights to the lands and enserfed labor of the indigenous peoples, as well as of the Crown’s right to wage just war against the latter if they resisted its sovereignty"

recently learned: if you send men who attempt a coup to prison, they WILL form a choir and the arts will NOT make them better but it will give them a chance to recruit
Excerpt from “Male Fantasies, Volume 1: Women Floods Bodies History” by Klaus Theweleit: "By means of brief prison interludes, Rossbach found his way to the arts. He formed a singing troupe with whose help he sought to preserve awareness of true German culture at a time of reduced interest in political discussion. Their travels brought him notable success—playing for foreign visitors."

it’s good to know people have always been annoying to vegetarians
Excerpt from The Sexual Politics of Meat by Carol J. Adams (but the anecdote is taken from The Life of Sir Walter Scott published 1837: “Well knowing Ritson’s holy horror of all animal food, Leyden
complained that the joint on the table was overdone. “Indeed,
for that matter,” cried he, “meat can never be too little done,
and raw is best of all.” He sent to the kitchen accordingly
for a plate of literally raw beef, and manfully ate it up, with
no sauce but the exquisite ruefulness of the Pythagorean’s
glances.” (Carol J. Adams puts in brackets after this: [Notice the manfully])
