I'm my almost thirty years of wearing glasses, this has never happened to me before. I feel like a cartoon character.
A pair of glasses, broken in half on the bridge of the nose (there is a bit of tape around the bridge but it only lasted a few minutes before they fell apart again)

Beautiful weather to be knitting a very heavy, very warm, winter jumper 😅 (Pattern is the Aprés Ski MAL by Katie Jones)
In the foreground: a hand holding knitting needles and a striped jumper - blue, red, turquoise, orange, pink

My 3-year-old is obsessed with the super Mario movie. I can't wait until she's old enough to introduce her to the games, but for now these crochet dolls I made will have to do (All three patterns are from www.ravelry.com/designers/es...)
3 crochet dolls of the characters Luigi, Princess Peach and Mario from the super Mario Brothers games

I love working from home, working from home (i.e. a cafe nearby) is great. (FYI, church street Cafe in kingscourt, staffed by absolute legends and very reasonably priced)
A square white plate with bacon, scrambled eggs and toasted home made brown bread. On the table behind them is a laptop and an earphone case.

Barnardos are fundraising to promote children's books and the writing childhood event on 31st May. Please share a childhood fave and donate www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/W... My pick is the animorphs series, wild and weird and fantastic and surprisingly dark near the end.
4 animorphs book covers side be side. Each shows a teenager slowly turning into a different animal

A techy friend introduced me to the concept of rubber duck debugging and I'm more than a little annoyed at how well it's working so far to unravel every massive problem with my plot. Imagine if I knew about this year's ago? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber_...
A little yellow rubber duck, sitting on a notebook on my desk which is filled with messy handwriting. In the background is some green paper with other scrawled notes.

This took me 6 months to knit, ready just in time for the good weather, I expect to be sweating in it all summer (this is the pattern, for anyone interested www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...)
A woman (me), taking a selfie in a bathroom mirror. White tiles and walls behind me. I'm wearing a knitted jumper. It's burgundy and baggy with a small white geometric design around the hem and a much larger white design around the yoke (neck and shoulders). This one is a repeating design of raven skulls and some geometric elements.

My parents are clearing out their house and they found these, my earliest primary school attempts at writing novels. It's probably for the best that I don't have anything that can read floppy discs anymore...
A close up of two floppy discs on a wooden dining table. The one on the left is orange with a very scratched and faded label that says 'Katie McDermott novel' in terrible handwriting. The one on the right is red, the label isn't faded and it says 'Katie McDermott Novel' in the same terrible handwriting.

Blue skies for Bluesky
A photo of a field and sky. The field takes up the bottom quarter of the photo, with a line of trees and hedges and another field behind it. The rest of the photo is a deep blue sky with some large white clouds

Congratulations to Elaine Garvey on the launch of the Wardrobe department, wonderful launch, wonderful novel, wonderful person
The cover of the novel 'The Wardrobe department' by Elaine Garvey. The cover is done in the style of an oil painting with a blue background and the head and shoulders of a young woman taking up the right hand side of it. The woman is white has dark hair in a bob cut with a fringe and us wearing a back jumper. Her eyes are looking too the left at something out of frame. The author Elaine Garvey, standing at a podium holding a microphone and reading from a sheet of paper. The podium has a poster of the cover of her novel on it. To her left is a large standing poster for Dubray books (where the event was held) and to her right are book cases

First day that it's felt like Spring! Beautiful outside, all the windows open while I work, only a light jacket and I'm so refreshed and finally doing work that I'm happy with. We really are meant to exist seasonally rather than just grind endlessly through the dark months of the year.
A picture with a hedge in the foreground, a large green field behind it. The top half is a lovely blue sky with lots of small clouds. There are trees and hedges snaking across the field.

I gave my three year old full control when decorating her dad's birthday cake, and honestly, I can't fault a single decision. Epic cake.
A square cake covered in pink icing and an entire packet of haribo star mix sweets, some sprinkles, assorted other sweets and candles shaped like balloons. The cake is barely visible under all the 'decorations'

Here's a very quick email you can use to contact your TDs showing your support for WPATH trans healthcare (it's slightly too long for Bluesky but the full transcript is in the alt text so feel free to copy and paste). I'm sure there's ways to improve it, but the more people they hear from the better
Dear x,

I am writing to you to express my disappointment that a commitment to WPATH trans healthcare has been removed from the program for government. I fully support this evidence based mode of healthcare and bodily autonomy for trans people. I hope that as my TD you take the concerns of your constituents on board,

Yours sincerely,
