Finished a baby quilt for my nephew and his wife using a Beatrix Potter panel and a free pattern from Riley Blake. I quilted it with flowers, leaves and words, and added a book of Beatrix Potter stories. I have a fair bit of the panel left so I can make some cuddle quilts for the hospital. #quiltsky

Finished a charity #quilt today. It's called Sixty Slice and it's a free pattern by Leah Day. Quick and easy to make, it would be a great pattern for layer cake (10" squares of coordinated fabric) that you don't want to cut up too much. #quiltsky

When I see a tandem #bicycle with a man and woman, the man is on the front. It would make sense to put the taller of the two (usually the man) on the back, giving them both a good view, improving both safety and the experience. This seems like a throwback to #patriarchy giving the man control.

Just finished "The Home for Unwanted Girls" by Joanna Goodman. Heartbreaking and heartwarming as well as informative. The book kept my interest and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually listened to the audio book which was very well done. I highly recommend this book. #books #bookreview #booksky

I'm at a quilt retreat near Buckingham, Quebec. Here's the view from my sewing table. I've completed 5 out of 9 blocs for the "Big Starry Sky" quilt by Beyond the Reef. Each block is 28 1/2 inches square and the quilt finishes at 88 inches square. #quiltsky

Scrappy Lone Star by Tara Faughnan is done. I took an online course with Tara which was great. I often have difficulty orienting my fabrics correctly for sewing and this was no exception. I could have used the star as the centre for a larger quilt but decided to make a wheelchair quilt for donation.

@kathrynbarr.bsky.social and I did a #hike today on the #Osgoode Link Pathway from Flag Station Road to the rest stop for a picnic lunch. We were pleased to find the chairs were still there and even located the table which had been lost last year (presumed as blown away) More in alt text. 1/3

The Osgoode Link Pathway, an old 19th century railway bed.

Pure comfort at the rest stop. We brought these chairs and table in to this remote location last spring by pull-wagon to replace the old and broken plastic ones, so that people would have a place to sit down to rest while hiking or biking. The table had disappeared last summer, but I found it it in pieces today in the flattened spring grass and reassembled it for use.

2023 Fall Leaves mystery quilt finally done. I free motioned it on my domestic machine. As I'm doing free motion, I'm always seeing my mistakes but when I see the finished quilt, I don't notice the individual mistakes. They seem to blend in...or is my eyesight going. Ha Ha

Went downtown today on the bus/train. The temperature was -19 degrees celsius (-3 F) so we bundled up. On the way back, we had to wait outside for our transfer to the bus and there was a gentleman around 60 years old wearing shorts. Yes, shorts!

Went downtown #skating at the "Rink of Dreams" which is a cooled oval rink outside of the #Ottawa, Canada city hall. Lots of children and many new skaters so the speed was very slow and my partner, Adam, and I had to be vigilant to avoid darting and falling skaters. Had a great time!
