To introduce myself here: I'm a fiction writer specializing in literary fantasy. I published my first novel, Sasha the Witch, this year. It's about friendship, loneliness, drinking, control, and fraught familial relationships. I also love cats, crafting, flowers, style, television and movies.

That’s how I read! Keeps a nice bit of chaos in my life. 😂

So I am two chapters into Assistant to the Villain, and it’s whimsical. But I don’t think I need to spend time reading it right now.

I think it’s a time to be kind to ourselves and to pay attention when something inside says no.

Maybe not too heavy right now, right? So not The Reformatory (but wow, it’s good). Have you read God of the Woods or All the Colors of the Dark?

I just couldn’t read anything but a Maisie Dobbs audio last week. And now I’m faced with hard Libby choices. Have you read Artificial Wisdom, and do you recommend focusing on it in the next few days—as we are inaugurating an orange man and LA has been burning? Or moving towoard whimsy? #BookSky #💙📚

@mcribisback.io you totally need to see @britandherbooks.bsky.social original post on BookTok. I mean, I screen recorded it for personal joy in bleak times, but it’s not mine to share here. When Cheeto Puff restores BookTok, you MUST go see that video.

Oh, I followed several libraries giving book recs. I loved that. I’m hoping BookTok increased the number of folks using their libraries. I tried to post a lot about how I rely on my library for 95% of my reading.

Sorry—should have before. It’s a location-based SM app where users post anonymously. It was popular in the mid 2010s, which is probably why I know about it and you might not. I had a high school kid then. Schools hated this app—for good reason. It brought out the worst in users.

Managed to create a new account on desktop. I am unable to get logged off on the phone app or uninstall and reinstall. It's throwing up errors. US based accounts are still visible to those with accounts outside of the US. This is one of the most restrictive bans I've ever seen on social media.

The practical implementation of this ban by tiktok is completely over the top. It's overcompliance to an extreme degree while praising Trump. It's clear that this is political at this point. This isn't simply an IP ban, it's an account level ban tied to accounts with registered US phone numbers.

I never read the captions on TikTok posts (and I’m an elder Xer). This is like coming home to Twitter, which I forsook when it got musky. But I joined Twitter in 2008–so pretty early adapter—but couldn’t adapt to IG, it’s captions, or it’s emphasis on pretty.

I saw a video of someone (IDK who—seemed to somehow represent BlueSky) who said we should be uploading video. I’d been hesitant for the last few weeks—didn’t want to force a vibe change.
