Hannah Arendt’s words are 🎯 (per usual) From “The Origins of Totalitarianism”
A photo of the paragraph at the top of page 144 in the book The Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt. The paragraph reads, “ The imperialist-minded businessman, whom the stars annoyed because he could not act annex them, realized that power organized for its own sake would beget more power. When the accumulation of capital had reached its natural, national limits, the bourgeoisie understood that only with an“expansion is everything” ideology, and only with a corresponding power accumulating process, would it be possible to set the old motor into motion again. At the same moment, however, when it seemed as though the true principle of perpetual motion had been discovered, the specifically optimistic mood of the progress ideology was shaken. Not that anybody began to doubt the stability of the process itself, but many people began to see what had frightened Cecil Rhoades: that the human condition and the limitations of the globe were a serious obstacle to a process that was unable to stop and to stabilize, and could therefore only begin a series of destructive catastrophes once it had reached these limits.”

As I look up the start times of the MLB championship games for today, I remember that last year - when I was in Australia - I learned that some time zones have four letters in them.
A blue background on a TV screen from the 2024 major league baseball national league championship series that has red text that says game five Dodgers at Mets and in white text it says what time the game will be on in the East Coast of Australia, and in New Zealand. These time zones are four letters - AEDT and NZDT instead of the three letters seen in most of the northern hemisphere.

The characters of Dracula and his bride, Flora. Dracula stands behind Flora with his arms holding Flora’s arms open, the shades of pink and purple showing in the under part of his cape. Flora is on point with one leg extended and wearing a draping short sleeve white effervescent gown. They are both very pale, which makes sense since they are, technically dead, though immortal.

ummm, does the word “shag” have some baseball term meaning bc I am reallllly hoping it doesn’t. 😘 (excerpt from www.mlb.com/amp/news/ich...)
A Quote from Seattle Mariner’s baseball legend, Ichiro Suzuki, in an mlb dot com article about the Mariners two scrimmage games before they start their playoff run this Saturday. “ i’m still trying to hang in there with them,“ Ichiro said earlier this summer, through longtime interpreter Allen Turner. “I play catch. I run. I hit. I shag. So I hope that I can show them that even at this age, you can still play this game“
