Disclosure Day was so disappointing. I found this a little slow but for 1972 it was really impressive and didn't have a letdown of an ending...and middle and beginning (come on Spielberg, we know for a fact you can do better than that).

I was fascinated by that case as a teenager, and Compulsion did a better job than Rope, but the constraints of the time period meant everything had to be just hinted at. Thankfully I've grown out of my 'True Crime' phase.

I read Carpenter wanted to make Halloween into an anthology, where every movie was different. Since he had Michael Myers in the second one, as the studio requested, he pretty much destroyed that. This is a fun, kooky movie, and yeah, I miss trick-or-treating.

I can see that, he's completely uncomfortable playing the character. I guess he took the role so he could work with Hitchcock but it's just not the right fit. Granger was a little affected, he always was in my opinion, but he only seems uncomfortable because the character is, not because he is.

I love this movie. I could watch it over and over. Ralph Fiennes is so handsome it's hard to believe and his scenes with Paul Scofield are completely natural (and ultimately devastating), a perfect father/son dynamic.

I kept wondering why Farley Granger's character was so enthralled with John Dall's, though I'm not sure it's Dall's fault. There was nothing attractive there, he just blatantly said 'I'm evil and that's why I'm doing this'. I wonder how much was changed from the play.

I didn't love Compulsion but I think it's just because of the outdated psychology. It's what was used at the trial, so can't fault it for that. Dean Stockwell was great.

The actors save them for me, incredible performances in the midst of everything. Margot had about three lines of dialogue in this and I still remember it just because she has so much presence.

Pee Wee's Big Adventure is my favorite, but I'd watched Plan 9 From Outer Space as a kid, so I adored this movie (and yeah, not the biggest Burton fan and certainly no Depp fan).
