Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 11/02/2026I tweaked the color ramp positions slightly for more pleasing color blending, as you can see here, but here are the nodes I chose. 💕 190 9

Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 02/10/2025What an amazing game The Minish Cap has been. I can't believe I got this far in my life missing out this much!!!!!! 030 3

Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 15/09/2025Does this slap or nah? Wait for the actual beat to kick in before forming an opinion, of course. 350 5
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025Can't wait to show you all what I've been cooking for the past two months. It's the coolest device I've ever designed, both in aesthetic, and in functionality. Have a GREAT day! 💕 160 6
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025Why go holographic? Well, there are a number of reasons. 1. Anti-reflective glass, and barely any signature downrange. 2. Very minimal distortion, if any. 3. The dot can be microns thick, meaning magnification preserves precision. 4. Can be NVG friendly. 5. Generally more durable. 130 3
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025The reason two types of projections are needed is that a hologram is a physical etching of recorded light waves, and thus cannot be used as a dynamic display; it is unchanging. In contrast, a reflex display is only a reflection. (Left: Hologram. Right: Reflector.) www.eurekalert.org/news-release... 130 3
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025Together, these lights, mirrors, and holographic glass create a combined image of the reticle and its associated information superimposed on the operator's field of view. 130 3
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025The holographic projection originates from a laser diode. The coherent light from the diode is folded with a mirror to extend its path, collimated with a curved mirror, directed and modulated by a holographic diffraction grating, then steered and shaped by the final reticle image hologram. 140 4
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025The HUD image originates from a backlit LCD screen within the device. A collimating lens makes the light beams parallel, virtually placing the image out at infinity. This light bounces off of two mirrors, then directly backward, through the hologram, and into the eye of the operator. 130 3
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025The HUD would appear superimposed on the target at the same plane as the reticle. It would show information such as brightness, windage and elevation, and perhaps a magazine capacity readout. 140 4
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025Those old aircraft reflex sights work by shining a reticle image up through a magnifying lens, then bouncing it off of a beam splitter at a 90 degree angle. If we were to add a second beam splitter, then make the first one a full mirror, we'd have my HUD design! 171 7
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025Much like how WWII aircraft gunsights use a collimating lens and beam splitter to project an illuminated reticle at infinity, this design enables an integrated reflex heads-up display inside the unit for high quality visual feedback -- all without compromising the parallel holographic projection. 181 8
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 12/06/2025I have devised a concept for a holographic gunsight with an internal HUD! Let's take a look at how it works. 🧵 #b3d #optics #simulation 3284 28
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 11/06/2025I did this. It's still not the same because they're completely different things, but the HUD reflection looks pretty cool now. Thank you for the pointers! 010 1
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 11/06/2025These two emission materials have similar strengths, but one of them does not have nearly the same brightness due to being a reflection. How can I make it just as bright? 220 2
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 04/05/2025I have over 800 photos of my cat, Spoony. I got her in February. 1110 11
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 03/05/2025On a side note, they totally changed the wording. It used to be "Showing results for," but now it's "These are results for." 110 1
Katie @katdiedagain.bsky.social · 03/05/2025Weird question: How does Google choose between correcting a search with "Did you mean" and "These are results for _____. Search instead for ______"? I'm assuming that it's based on spelling, but I don't understand the nuance. Sometimes, spelling it wrong triggers both. I'm too curious. 120 2
