here's today's #Paleostream sketches!!! today we sketched Hesperornis (i drew H. regalis), Asiatyrannus, Manis palaeojavanica, and Khankhuuluu #paleoart #science #scicomm
a Hesperornis regalis has ambushed a baby mosasaur, it breaks the surface of the ocean. its nictitating membrance slowly retracting after the initial impact, the baby mosasaur is helpless against the large marine bird and will most likely be swallowed whole

Hesperornis is a kind of fully marine and flightless bird with a long neck, very small wings, and large back legs used for propulsion, although unlike living birds it had true teeth in its mouth.an Asiatyrannus runs across a pink salt lake with a baby turtle in its mouth, the salt from the lake solidifying around its ankles. a large plateau is across on the other side of the lake infront of a bright blue and clear sky. the animal is missing the lower portion of its left arm and has a crooked tail.

Asiatyrannus is a genus of tyrannosaur that may be a juvenile or a near-fully grown individual. though it's a tyrannosaur, it doesnt resemble the famous Tyrannosaurus, it's significantly smaller with a less stocky build and thinner facea piebald Manis palaeojavanica (giant asian pangolin) climbs ontop of a 2 metre tall termite mound in the middle of a forest fire in hopes of escaping the incoming flames that circle it. its efforts will be futile

Manis palaeojavanica is an extinct species of pangolin that's in the same genus as the still living asiatic pangolins that once lived on the islands of Java and Borneo (Sarawak specifically) (although at the time it lived, Maritime Southeast Asia was all connected to mainland Asia due to lower sea levels, so it was likely present across low-lying Southeast Asia). we know it reached over 2 metres in length as we only have juveniles that reach up to about 2 metres in length meaning the adults most likely got far largeron a foggy morning, a male Khankhuuluu sniffs the ground, his white mane shining in the dulled morning light

Khankhuuluu is a genus of smaller tyrannosaur from Mongolia, it has traits of more derived tyrannosaurids and more basal tyrannosauroids, making it a very curious member of the clade
